Uh oh! Did you stay for the next shot?

This is how "Venetian Rowing" is done, Bonnie.
It looks a bit precarious! Great catch - and I like the antique type of processing!
Picturit: Thank you, Elizabeth. It is Venetian Rowing.
Doesn't look to safe Astrid, good catch.
Picturit: It is called "Venetian Rowing".
Oh, how fun...from Venice! It looks so old-timey, Astrid.
Picturit: I thought this was a proper processing because of the very fit old geezers.
Thank you, Ginnie

Oh yes, with united forces!
Picturit: Absolutely, Philine. You have seen this in real too, I imagine.

This looks very precarious Astrid. What on earth are they doing??
Picturit: Venetian Rowing, Chris..... we might try it one day grin...

Leur embarcation semble bien fragile.
Picturit: I know but they did know how to row and make it very stable.
Oups...dangereux non ?
Picturit: I don't think so, Claudine. I think they were going to the market and knew exactly what they were doing.

He looks as if he is about to fall in Astrid, wouldn’t a sit down rowing boat be safer? Looking at the video this technique seems quite difficult.
Picturit: I know, Chad and this blew my mind... they must have "sea-legs" and a lot of experience doing this on a Friday morning as a work out....

i have seen stand up paddling but this stand up rowing would be the first instance i am seeing, Astrid.
Picturit: This to me was fascinating to see and they are quite good at it, Ayush. We saw more elderly people rowing like this in pairs or 4 in a boat.

This is an excellent picture as result of the conversion. Venetian rowing must be invented by rowers with sore backsides.
Picturit: Thank you kindly, Louis. I think you are right, it is almost like they have "saddle pain" after riding the bike for 2 hours grin...
Have you been peeking over Ginnie's shoulder? smile
Picturit: smile all the time, Larry.... wink...
What a great shot, Astrid. I love the placement and look of the globe above the men.
Picturit: That globe is the entrance of this canal, each canal had one on each end so in the dark people know where to go by boat. Thank you as always, Mary.
Hope neither one lost his balance, Astrid. Were they part of a Venetian rowing competition?
Picturit: They did very well together and I think this is a kind of keeping fit for the both of them, they were just having a great time on that day.

I think that they must do this in synchronisation otherwise it could all end up in tears. The water looks to be a little choppy, too.
Picturit: They went in great harmony, Alan, and I think they ware used with choppy water. They came from "outside" the city by some even more rough water.
Looks like hard work. It seems an unnecessarily difficult way to row
Picturit: I know, it looks odd, Bill. But then look at the people who move the gondolas through the canals of Venice....who would think that up???
As an almost non-swimmer this would definitely be a no-no pasttime for me!
Picturit: Ha, I know what you mean, Brian. I rather am sailing wink....
Looks a trifle dodgy, but I suppose they've been at it for some time!
Picturit: I think so too, Tom. This is a lifetime experience and they taught their children and who will teach their children we hope. There still is a lot of culture in Venice they keep alive.
I am probably wrong but they don't look too stable.
Picturit: It is amazing how well they handled this boat. But then, they were born "on the water" and know nothing else....

And it looks hard work making headway, Astrid
Picturit: They did a great job, I was observing them for quite some time and was fascinated by it. Lisl, to tell you the truth, I rather go sailing wink
Ha ha, die doen hun best !
Erge leuke actiefoto
Fijne zome hè ?
Picturit: Hoi, Marjolein.
Goed weekend!!!
Have a great time
Have a great time
Oh wow! Does that take some skill!
Picturit: Indeed, Robin, and think how fir these two men stay if they keep doing this often... go into the city and have a coffee and row back....
I never did see older women do this though... they don't drink coffee wink grin..
