I am sitting here laughing at your title, Astrid. How clever of you! I can still see you standing on the fountain's ledge at eye level with these fountain gargoyles. Are they the spitting image of the one taking the picture? This delights me to no end. It brings back so many images of the dry day we were in Utrecht. We were so lucky to see the same things together. You did good, mijn vriend.

good title - but I am sure not of anyone you know ;o) Depth of field is the key to this good photograph - I would have made the shadows slightly darker perhaps - but then that's just me Mr Gothic ;o)

"Blaffende honden bijten niet, is een Nederlands gezegde." Ja, we kennen dit gezegde ok in het Duits! Maar ik denk dat eerder draken er zijn afgebeeld! (zie ook het commentaartje van Louis!). Leuk je linkje naar de bron, en ik vind de lezende monnik Hugo ("De fontein met het bronzen beeldje van de veertiende-eeuwse domkanunnik Hugo Wstinc dateert uit 1913 en is van de hand van Jan Hendrik Brom.")erg interessant (Heb je ook deze monnik gefotografeerd- want ik verzameel en zoek sinds enkele jaren al afbeldingen betrekend het onderwerp 'lezende figuren'. De monnik heeft zich zo verdiept in zijn boekje, wel het bijbeltje, dat hem noch de blaffende draken noch het ruisen van de bron zullen verstoren. Geen verleiding naar..., vermoedelijk gesymoliseerd door de draken, kan hem in de war brengen! Ja, wie leest kan de gehele wereld rondom vergeten!

I think this is the first picture of yours Astrid that is not entirely to my liking. It's the out of focus water stream in the foreground that I don't go for, otherwise it all fits together nicely.

Picturit: Brian, that's okay with me, I only can add, that the water-stream is towards me and it was not possible to have the mouth AND the waterstream in focus..., sometimes I win and sometimes I loose, it would not be good if I only WIN thank you Brian for your honest comment, I appreciate that, Astrid.
