De Oude Gracht, is one of the canals that run through Utrecht,
it is possible to go down the stairs to walk near the water,
in ancient times there were many wine-cellars
because of the right temperature,
boats would bring the big barrels to these cellars
nowadays small cafes are situated there,

Well if it was in ancient times mijn vriend you will remember it very well LOL..
Astrid joking apart this is a delight to the eyes. You are just so thoughtful in your presentation. A marvel and a likey for me.
Picturit: Tracy, I remember as the day of yesterday....
Utrecht sounds like a nice place: I would like to cycle round it
Picturit: Chris you will love it, please give me a call and we go together, it will be fun, I know some nice places where could have lunch.....Astrid
This Old Canal of yours, Astrid, is truly THE Oude Gracht of days gone by in this presentation! I know how much time you must have spent on this to give it this feel. I love it. I love seeing it through your eyes!
Picturit: Ginnie, I had to do something with the name 'OLD', sometimes it is fun to play around with the box of crayons like I used to do
It certainly looks old presented like this!
Picturit: That was my intention, it was old but not as old as I made it, Astrid
Dit is echt een hele mooie sfeervolle plaat! De tonen en kleuren in de plaat vind ik ook erg mooi!
Picturit: Dank je wel Robbie, dit is één van mijn eerste in de sepia, het bevalt me wel om een beetje te experimenteren, je kan zeggen dat ik een beetje zoekende ben met wat ik echt wil, ach, een beetje van alles kan ook geen kwaad, Astrid, Thank you, Robbie, this is one of my first in the sepia, I am kind of experimenting with what I really want to do, but I don't think it will do any harm to do a little of each......
I must visit Utrecht interesting photo I like colour but its your blog
Picturit: Vintage I do have to dissapoint you, the weather was not sunny, it was taken 'against the light' no color in this one, I do have some crayons
That Vintage just can't get over the fact that they invented colour film and he could only afford Black and white because it was cheaper.
Beautiful old world feel to this Astrid, I love it.
Picturit: Aussie, Aussie, I know that feeling, as a poor student I had B&W too, but I loved it, color is nice, but some pictures are better without the color, thank you for your kind words!Astrid
Did you move all the bicycles around until only the old looking ones were visible? The picture has a very authentic vintage look about it. Excellent.
Picturit: LOL, no Louis is did not touch a thing, it is somebody's elses property, you never know what weirdo will show up....., thank you for your kind words, Astrid
Wow Astrid ... you seriously are in your element now. I'm learning from you.richard
Picturit: Yes Richard I am having twice fun now, first to make this look kind of authentic and than the reaction of you all, I may like to do some experimenting but will it be appreciated, (I post only things I like though, not what others like ME to post....thank you for you kind words,Astrid.
Interesting shot. Good composition
Picturit: Thank you Navin, I am always looking around for something 'out of the ordenairy' thank you for visiting, Astrid
Tracy, you are right, I have a feeling like you, as if I were in 1920- long, long ago, but mostly when I'm walking through old Dutch towns I have a feeling like that and I love it!
Gorgeous presentation, Astrid. Love the tones and the `old-world` feel to this. (:o)
Picturit: Thank you Roz, yes I love to get a nice presentation, it sits just inside of me and sometimes it has to come out....thank you for your kind words, Astrid
Love it: a very nice perspective!
I wonder about the edges though..
Picturit: Thank you Wim, the edges are like the pics we use to have on the glass plates, I have been working (32 years ago) in a picture develping/printing office and I have been printing pictues by hand in the dark room from the glass 'negatives' they gave that same 'picture' as I tried to get...Astrid
I like the fading around the edge as though it is light damaged from sticking out of a pile of old photographs. Nicely observed subject and genre (old photographs)
Picturit: Mike, that was excactly what I wanted to show, 32 years ago I worked in a printing/develping studio, sometimes I was asked to make prints from glass negatives, they looked the same as this one, thank you for your kind words, Astrid
Looks like an photograph of a past era, that one might find tucked in an old trunk in an attic, Astrid.
Picturit: Yes Kathryn, that was what I tried to show, it is fun to explore sometimes, thank you for your kind words, Astrid.
Great perspective. Just like an old postcard found in a junk shop!
Ingrid
Picturit: I looks like that
I like the fading edges...
Picturit: Thank you, the fading reminds me of old times....Astrid
The processing is pretty cool. This serves to remind me that I haven't been on a bicycle in ages!!!
Picturit: You don't kniw what you are missing, well easy for me to say, I don't get anywhere WITHOUT my bike....Astrid
Very nice perspective shot Astrid. I like the old postcard effect. Well done
Picturit: Thank you Richard, I am pleased you like this one, Astrid
Well done, the stairs are nice in the photo.
I 'could' have done without the faded edges, thank you for your honest comment...
Another shot like yesterday's Astrid which makes one think of Holland. Love the vignette style treatment and the toning. Timeless, as they say.
Picturit: Brian, Utrecht is a University City, students move around on bikes, so they are all over the place, not a single free spot to find..sometimes..thank you for your kind words, as always, Astrid.
Très bon traitement de l'image !
Picturit: Merci beaucoup pour votre mots très aimables, thank you do much, Astrid
Love the treatment, that suits this so well.. a trim off the top perhaps?
Picturit: You might be right about that, there is always something left to improve, isn't there? thank you Bill, as always, Astrid.
Very nice tones, Astrid. And I love that vignette. So fitting.
Picturit: Thank you for your kind words and for visiting, Astrid
This photo transports to other times. Well done!
Picturit: Thank you José-Angel, that was my intention, old times at the Old Canal.....Astrid.
Nice processing. I love the old look and the crisp clean lines.
Picturit: Thank you Jewlya, for your kind words, Astrid
Wow, this is magic, I thought I was in a time warp. Your presentation is inspiring
Picturit: Thank you Michelle, it is fun to play around sometimes.....Astrid
I like these pictures, to dream away to the past... Thank you Astrid!
Picturit: Utrecht as I remember, it is a nice city to wonder around, Astrid.
I like this "old picture" aspect : Very well done !
Picturit: You are so welcome Zeb, thank you for your kind words as always, Astrid
