It has a lot of fine detail, Astrid...especially in the robes.
Picturit: I was impressed by the whole presentation and the details/colours of these wonderful sculptures.
Astrid.
Who would have known this was in Connecticut, Astrid...I assume in the one Catholic church we visited, as opposed to the many Congregational churches? I wonder if it's all in wood? And yes, the pastel colors really make this for me.
Picturit: Indeed that was the one church we were allowed in with the three of us. I was impressed with the sculptors, Ginnie. My thought was that it might be clay and then painted?? I can be wrong of course.

I would have expected you to say this was in Italy, Astrid
Picturit: I know, this was so special to see it in a Catholic Church in Connecticut, which is reformed more......
Have a happy Easterweekend, Lisl.

Universal isn't it Astrid
Picturit: Indeed so, Chris. Have a happy Easter weekend.
Astrid.
There has been much fine religious art on display this week
Picturit: Don't you just love all the art we saw in many posts, Bill. That is what I love of Shutterchance, everybody has his/her own showing.
Astrid.
Echt mooi
Vrolijk Pasen.

Joyeux week-end de Pâques !
Picturit: Happy Easter for you too, Martine.
Astrid.
I like this very much, together with Ginnie's today they are sort of 'chalk and cheese' but neither of the representations garish and flash if you know what I mean.
Picturit: I know what you mean, Brian. NOrmally I am not so good with the Good Friday, however I was impressed with the art that I saw in this Catholic Church.
Astrid.
Have a wonderful Easter weekend. Love the faint signature!
Picturit: Thank you, Robin. A wonderful Easterweekend for you too. Sometimes I like to just have my signature just as a faint blend in one.
4 more weeks for me.....28 days of work.......smile
Astrid.
more fine art, so many different interpretations today
Picturit: Thank you, Martin. Indeed so many variations on the subject and all are as beautiful.
Astrid.
As Lisl suggests it certainly has an Italianate look about it!
Picturit: I never would have expected it in Connecticut.
Astrid.
The painting is well done.
Picturit: In fact this was sculptured, hard to tell if this was wood or clay.
Astrid.
this is a beautiful sculpture of the crucifixion in this Connecticut church Astrid... very fitting for today....petersmile
Picturit: Thank you, Peter. I was impressed by the stations of the cross and thought it was a'good' day to post it.
I do see Catholic Churches as big museums.
Astrid.
I see that you have been confronted on the same theme, more streamlined and linear that of Ginnie, more colorful and flashy yours, both beautiful.
Picturit: Indeed and the fact that I was impressed by the stations of the cross, I thought it was a 'good' day to post. I have to admit that I see churches (catholic) as museums and I admire the art.
Astrid.

A scene referred throughout the Christian world.
Picturit: Indeed so, Alan. I was impressed by the art of station of the cross displayed in the church. I see churches as one big museum.
Astrid.
The colours really make this piece of art.
Picturit: Thank you, Michael, I was so impressed with the colours too.
Astrid.
Very nice, Astrid - Have a very lovely, Happy Easter!
Picturit: Thank you, Elizabeth. Have a Happy Easter too and hope you have some time with Frank together...
Astrid.
there is considerable skill in the sculpting of those figures, Astrid. i assume they are not mass made out of a mould.
Picturit: I doubt that they are mass made, Ayush. For all I know this was also the the only Catholic church in the large area...
Astrid.
