.....early in the morning...............#1

The next 6 posts are about 'what I see going to my work, by bike', no need to say that that day I just about made it in time………

These pictures were taken around 7 o'clock in the morning, it was cold, foggy, however above the fog the blue sky was there and it was a beautiful day.

The music really resembles my mood in the morning, I love this time of day, the air is crisp, the flowers bloom, birds are singing, I fully enjoy my 25 minutes ride to work.

This is just before I will go on the dike, where there is a bikepath to the next town, my village is below sea-level.

This brings tears to my eyes...maybe because I had no idea it looked like this on your way to work! I'm glad you stopped once to take this shot. Ontzettend bedankt.

Picturit: I wanted to share this with you so badly, everyday it is a joy for the eye, this is just about at the border of the village, I have to go on the dike and turn left.
I knew you would like this one, it is wonderful to take a walk in the polder too.

Hi Astrid ... This is an amazing shot. I wish it looked like this on my way to anywhere.

I can imagine and I know I am very fortunate to live in this kind of surrounding, closeby a bigger town, reachable by bike, have work there and while coming home I can relax from the hectics of work.

Wow a wonderful scene,I travel for 40minutes in the car to work each day sadly no veiws like this on the way.At this stage I will be in Amsterdam the evening of the 12/7/09 more detail in email soon Adrian

Sorry to hear about the tragedy that occurred in your fair country

Picturit: Thank you so much Tony, it is a great tragedy, our Queens-day will never be the same any more, it is so sad that one lunatic can spoil things forever.
This Queens-day is one of our highlights of the country, the whole Royal Family, I think 17 members walk freely in between us all......they celebrate with us and have fun, that has ended abruptly now.

Wat voor een prachtig beeld - en ik moet zeggen dat je een erg mooi weg naar je werk heeft- die moet opmonteren en heel vrolijk en wakker mocht je aankomen aan het bedrijf- met rode bekken...! Jouw foto, de kleuren, de mist, de bomen en planten is een plezier voor de ogen, een 'augenweide' zoals ook de Nederlanders zeggen en je heeft je stemming 's ochtends heel mooi beschreven! -en de muziek is een plezier voor de oren- ik ben een fan van Händels muziek! Een prettig long weekeind jou toegewenst!

Gisteren was ik erg bedroefd toen ik het nieuws over Beatrix en haar gezin op TV hoorde! En dit op de mooie koninginnedag!

Picturit: Het is een feest om zo naar werk te gaan, ik weet er zal ook regen en kou en wind zijn, dan is het minder om daar doorheen te fietsen.....
Ik hou van deze muziek, ik studeerde en tekende bij deze muziek, zelfs Jeroen houdt hiervan.....
Vandaag heb ik gewerkt, alleen onze afdeling werkte, de rest was vrij....

Het was/is een drama, heel verdrietig allemaal, Koninginnedag zal nooit meer dezelfde zijn.

I'm surprised you get to work at all with this beautiful scenery to photograph. It gives a fine impression of a cool, spring morning. Great idea for a series.

Fabulous. What time do you begin work, Astrid? or is it a long ride?

Picturit: Thank you Chad, I start at 7.45, we get a horn-signal at 7.40 and we have to be busy at 7.45, normally I am at the 'working floor' at 7.35.
The first thing I do is to check the weather, if there is wind I have to add 10 minutes to the time, in the morning I always have wind against.
The ride is about 20-25 minutes.

I know from this lovely picture I am going to enjoy this series Astrid, one doesn't think of Holland being as attractive as this. Mind you I gave up 7 o'clock in the morning when I retired early in 2004

Picturit: Brian, I live in a very beautiful part of Holland, the next 5 posts will show.
I live in a small village in the polder.
I have been an early bird all my life, even when I did not work I got up a 6.30.
I can imagine you sleeping in though...

A cracking shot, Astrid. Good for you for cycling to work through that glorious countryside. Do you ever yget concerned about the dike breaking?

No I am NOT afraid that the dike will brake, they are very solid build and they have a good system of locks all over so the can regulate the height of the water.
......and Alan, I only own a bike, so I have to, however I don't mind

it keeps me fit too...

Lucky you, this is one wonderfull way to start the day. Chance to think about everything and plan the day ahead - so inspirational.

Picturit: Mike, I feel very lucky when I am on my bike to work, it gives me a chance to escape and after work it gives me time to relax and get my mind and thoughts organised again.
