This looks a bit like a work in progress, but I am sure you will get a lot of good fruit out of it in a couple of years. (BTW, 500m are a little over 1600 ft. This place is big!)
Picturit: Thanks Martin, I changed the numbers, it is big, when the trees are blooming I like to have a shot of the orchard from the dike, an overvieuw, for me it never get bored to see those endless rows of small trees, they cut them in hight so we can pick while standing on the ground, this was the most worst part of the orchard...the part with the most 'character'
Astrid.
This looks spooky in the fog. I would have to think twice about venturing in there!
Picturit: Helen we sometimes would crack up, I was always with the same lady picking the fruit, we were fast pickers, but our mouths never stopped either, we wood make up all kind of story's, like 'murder in the apple orchard' or stuff like that, being out there is not good for people with too much of an imagination....but I loved it out there
Astrid.
wow, there's such a feeling of mystery to this photo, I love the odd texture of the trees.
Picturit: Thanks Tab, the odd texture comes by cutting the trees in a curtain way, the trees are not taller than 6 feet, we stay on the ground while picking. Thanks for visiting.
Astrid.
At 1/5s you either have a VR/IS lens or a mighty steady hand. I like the sharpness in this picture and the mood is like others said...mysterious. Straight from a Stephen King novel. Love it!
Picturit: I had to smile, yes I am known of my steady hand to, ckeck out 24 of jan. 1,3,10 febr. but this time I had my tripod and remote control, they are my best friends too, I do use them a lot...I don't make a secret out of that
Astrid
This looks like something out of a WW1 movie. Excellent picture to pick the mood of things gone by.
Picturit: Louis I have many footsteps in this orchard, many many kilo's of fruit which I picked, I love this place, but when I saw this, my heart hurt, I hate to say this, but this man does not love his job, he is renewing though, but well he is rough..... for me the B&W gives the mood I was in when I walked this place again.
Astrid.
Astrid I love the knarled trees and the way they have grown. The otherside looks like thorn hedge. This shot has a spooky eerie atmosphere, as if a lady is going to appear in a white dress and beckon you towards her.
Great shot, you are just to good mijn vriend Steady hands, good eyes and a big heart, you have the lot
Picturit: These are all apple trees, the ones on the right have not been cut yet, oh I saw many things appear and disappear between those trees
But now I am a Musketeer, so I fear nothing Astrid.
Reminds me of an old movie, where walking into the fog was not the best idea but of course everone did. I can here the eerie music now. Another terrific fog capture Astrid.
Picturit: Aussie, they played that music that day too, I loved the scene, yep this is no place for people who have too much of an imagination and saw too many movies
Astrid.
There is a lot of mutilation and tree-torturing here. I can hear them shout... ;-)
Picturit: Yes, but this is the way it goes and you know it does, they cut half of the stem just above the ground to force the tree to grow and give better fruit....
Astrid.
Astrid.
You half expect to see a figure looming out of the mist! there is a chilling feeling to this one.
Ingrid
Picturit: Creepy and chilling, but this will change when they bloom and give fruit!!
Thanks Ingrid. Astrid.
Great capture Astrid, the fog makes it mystic... almost ghostly... awesome to go with B&W too
Picturit: Orchards are ghostly in the fog, it is quiet, no one around (I hope) thank you for your kind words.
Astrid
Nice picture Astrid. Your B&W conversion here works for me.
Picturit: Thank you for your kind words, I am pleased you like it.
Astrid.
Spooky looks like a big storm has passed near by
Picturit: Yes, but this is how it looks all the time, he does not take care of the place in the right sense like he should.
Astrid.
Yes, that must be very hard work, back breaking.
I really love this photo, Astrid. I know you're getting tired of the fog, but it sure makes for beautiful images. There is something sad about trees that are cropped.
Picturit: It is very hard work, but we had a great team with 8 people with the right sense of humor and all worked hard, we worked in pairs, we walk each side of the trees and we have big wooden cases inwhich we put the apples/pears, 800-1000 kilo's one case, we sometimes did 5 a day per 2 persons.
Fog sure gives the right mood into the pictures, thank you Ruth for your kind words. Astrid.
Very very nice shot. I love it. I like your perspective. Makes a great black and white.
Picturit: Laura your kind words really makes me happy, thank you so much.
Astrid.
Another nice foggy shot Astrid.
Picturit: I am pleased you like it.
Astrid.
So many orchards here have been destroyed and proper apples are hard to find.
Picturit: Yes but he is planting new ones and that gives sure nice ones, 5 years ago he started and the first came off already, last year.....
Complicated it turns out to me to gather fruit and to make photographies as good as this. I congratulate to you!
Picturit: May I thank you for your really kind words, most apprecitated, José-Angel.
Astrid.
Yet another delighful image, Astrid. What a great combination...orchard and fog.
Picturit: This is magic together, it really is and I am lucky that I am allowed in this place, so no trespassing here for me, thank you for your very kind words, Chad
Astrid.
Very nice moody composition Astrid. I like the perspective heading to nowhere in the fog!
Picturit: Thank you Richard, this really is a nice place to be, fog or no fog, I cannot wait until the blossoms are there.
Astrid
Dewy and misty eyed feel to this ... works so well with all those mid tones.richard
Picturit: Yes I was so lucky with this type of fog, the 'gentle' fog with the nice tones in it, thank you for your kind words.
Astrid.
super shot once again Astrid
Picturit: Tim, fog is magic, I can walk in it for hours, the world does look so much different....I love it...thank you for your kind words
Astrid.
Your fog pictures are doing you proud Astrid, love the details in the foreground trees on the left.
Picturit: You make me smile Brian, thank you so much for your dear compliment,
Astrid,
Grapewines in winter, what a great mono and what a tribute to wine !
Picturit: eerrm... I hate to tell you but these are apple trees, but I am sure that is what you meant....thank you Florence.
Astrid
Nice foggy shot. works well in BW too.
Picturit: Thanks Gishan, I am pleased you like it.
Astrid
wonderful in a midtone-dominated bw...the fog looks lovely...
Picturit: Thank you PhotoSam, the fog in the orchard is beautiful, I have been there so many times and everytime it amazes me, thanks for visisting!
Astrid.
Could we make apple wine??? Or apple beer? How about hard cider!!! (Following Flo's thought.)
Anyway, I can picturit! You and your friends being little devils on the job, getting a lot done but still cutting up and getting away with murder. HA! I can see all those memories there in the fog, ready to come into full view if only I am patient enough to wait for them. You know I am a very patient woman! You know me. I love your polder. I love your fog.
Picturit: I go for the hard cider, we sneak into the back of the orchard and have a ball
Astrid grin grin grin yes the devil was out again...
Nice work Astrid. I would be to scared to go in there though.
Picturit: I know the feeling, I got used to it though
Astrid.
This one is also very great! Nice DoF again!
Picturit: Thanks Robbie, I was really gald with this fog, I am glad you like it, have a nice evening.
Astrid.
Wow ! Seems coming right out a war moovie, a great and heavy atmosphere and a likey !!
Picturit: Zeb, yes it almost is, but I have to admit, new trees will come soon, I had many great times in thie place, picking the fruit, thanks Zeb, for your always kind words, have a great weekend!
Astrid.
This reminds me of my old home in the San Joaquin Valley. Lots of vines, orchards, etc. Thank you for bringing that to me.
Picturit: You are so welcome, orchards are always a nice place to be, those endless rows of trees (aples or grapes) it is a beautifull sight.
