Astrid you amaze me with your eye for a GREAT shot, and this is one of your best IMOH.
You have captured so much feeling into this shot I just love itsmile
Picturit: Boats, sea, oceans, all what there is about sailing has my love, I almost joined the Navy when I was 16....I wanted to be at sea....that is maybe why I put in so much love/feeling into this picture.
Thank you so much for your kind words, they mean a lot to me.

You know this is a Likey for me, Astrid. When I first laid eyes on it (was that really on November 30th?!), I just about lost it. Tracy is right. This is one of your best! BUT WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG TO POST IT???
Picturit: Yes, it was the 30th of november, I took this picture in September 2007, I just started SC, this has been in the unassigned bin since, I cannot give you an answer to your question...I think today is the right time, for today I start with my great project that has to be finished September 5th, I filled you in about that, it will keep me very busy untill then, I might have to slow down on the posting on SC, but I will say so if I have to, consider this as a kind of superstition about sailors having a safe journey over the oceans, I hope to have one.......and you know where I am talking about.......wink

Astrid.

you have resisted the whole ship and just pared it down to its essence in the manner of Brancusi - you have an excellent eye Astrid - and you were right not to embed your trade name This time, although ONLY on this one - I Love finding your name in unexpected places
Picturit: Your words made me feel very happy, sometimes just a part is enough, we have enough imagiantion to 'see' the rest of the ship....
My signature did NOT belong on the ship...it is NOT mine...
Astrid.
Wonderful composition. Great framing Astrid! I love it.
Picturit: I am pleased you like it, love boats and vessels in general.
Astrid.
A good omen, a good picture.

Excellent shot Astrid, but one little tip if I may. The spar/mast just touching the frame creates a tension in the image that is a little distracting. I was always taught that things should definitely touch the edge, like the tackle on the lhs or the sail at the top, or have a space between. This makes the composition look "confident" and doesn' draw the eye away from the main subject. Again just trying to help - these things are always subjective so don't take it to heart. Mike ;o)
Picturit: Thank you so much for your good advice, next time I will think about it, Mike, I am pleased you took time, to give me some more information, to keep in mind for the next time, thanks.
Astrid.
Nice picture, good colors!
Picturit: Thanks Robbie, glad you like it.

Yes it's a wonderful composition, I agree completely. The colors are very pleasing as well. I can hear it knocking around in the wind too.
Picturit: Ruth, this would be very nice to sail away on this vessel and we only take people with us we like smile
Thank you or your kind words.

A photograph of great quality, Astrid. I think that you have great technique.
Picturit: Chad, your words mean a lot to me, I am pleased you like it.
Astrid.
Was it a tjalk or a clipper?
Great the way the stiff sails are more or less folded.
Picturit: A clipper, the ship smelled of tar, it would be great to sail the Waddenzee, with it....

Nice detail shot Astrid rather than the whole boat. Lots of interesting detail. Nice frame round the outside as well.
Picturit: I think we all know how a boat looks, that made me just capture some of the important parts, than you for your kind words.
