photoblog image Witch-hazel......my magic tree

Witch-hazel......my magic tree

In my backyard I have a tree, in summer big green leaves, in autumn it drops all the leaves, now in January  it is blooming, some magic here?

Every winter I am anxious how many flowers there are, this year it is a stunning tree again...

(some one will be surprised)

The name......... Hamamelis Virginiana.......

At least one person I know is VERY surprised! OMG! You mean Witch Hazel is named after MOI! (Or is it the other way around!)

I agree with Tracy that your posts are just getting better and better, Astrid. You are not only a photographer but a creative artist as well. I'm once again sprakeloos. And yes, a Likey for me as well.
Picturit: Too many kind words here, but I have to admit, this is for me like 'I am back in business....sometimes' I like the photography very much, but then I have an inner urge to do 'something' with it. When I looked for the name of the tree on internet, I was surprised too about the name and Ginnie I would say this tree is named after you but than I have a question: which came first, the egg or the chicken...... Have a safe flight to AMS and see you soon and thanks as always!!

Picturit: You should see the tree today, a little sun and than those yellow flowers, they will last a few more weeks I think...

Splendid stuff Astrid: love it!
Picturit: I am very pleased you like it Chris!!

I love the collage and the way you made it ... It makes the two photo's colours emerge from the backside ... And these flowers are as you say magic !!!
Picturit: Thanks Ann, they still are magic...I am pleased you like it.
Your presentation is marvellous Astrid. No other word comes to me, it leaves me speachless. Excellent job!

LOL I know even less about flowers than I do about birds, so a real lesson for me ;o) I will have to keep my eyes peeled and see if I can see some. (Ingrid will probably tell me we have had some in the garden for 15 years!)
Picturit: Oh Mike, that will be the day, how come you have NOT seen these kind of trees if they were in your garden?? I don't know anything about trees and birds either....I have 'google' tonguetongue

Oooh, lucky, lucky you!

We had one of these in our garden, but during last spring it curled up its toes and has gone. It's a fabulous looking flower isn't it.

I do like the way you've presented the pictures
Picturit: Thank you Ellie for your kind words, yes those trees are really wonders, mine gets better every year and every year I am happy if it blooms...

I agree this is absolutely splendid. The composition of the collage is so very pleasing.

I adore witchhazel. We had a tree years ago and we regret not digging it up when we moved.
Picturit: Ruth that is such a pity, I dug this one many many years ago out of the garden from the house in which I was born....even that garden had sand ground and we are living now on heavy blue river clay ground, it took some years for the tree to adjust, but see the result, it feels at home again!
Another beautiful yellow montage !
Picturit: Thanks Zeb, as always my friend
