photoblog image let there be light (1 of 4)

let there be light (1 of 4)

This mill is called Nooit Volmaakt that is 'never finished, I made this picture last week when we had a full moon, a clear sky and no wind, those days are rare in Holland, so I was trying some things ( Kathryn told me to get a swing at my camera, but don't let go) so I did, my camera is on a tripod, this is the first of a serie nightpictures I hope you enjoy, feel free to comment, but I like to mention it I DID NOT USE ANY PS to get these results, I took my pictures in RAW and only changed the size.

Ginnie this one is for you

Oh Astrid this is a work of art. The windmill looks in motion and the rays of light give me the feeling of a the forces of nature. I say BRAVO, give your camera a few more swings!
Picturit: Thank you so much Kathryn, credit to you for the inspriration, my next step will be, not on a tripod but handed, I tried with the mill but it did not turn out good, so I will keep on trying tongue

Wow that is eery... please explaine more about the swing and what setting you used. Thanks gale
Picturit: Thank you Gale, I will try to explain how I did it, 5 sec. aperture 20, ISO 500, I used a tripod, I have a 18-200 mm zoom lens, so I started out at 18 mm focused, so I pushed the button half, than zoom fully out, push the button and start zooming in, but make sure that you need half of the time for the lighting of the subject, so about 2,5 seconds zooming and the rest at 18 mm were you started off.
hope you'll understand, other wise please mail me smile

Picturit: Mal thank you very much for your nice compliment smile
I'm a little confused. Is it a double exposure?
Picturit: No Mary, don't be confused I just zoomed in, there are at nights 4 big lamps on the mill, I'll show the mill again sometimes but than I am 150 meter, 450 feet away.

Hmm, I like this. Explain again how you did this so I can err, borrow the idea!
Picturit: Thankd Martin, I copied my answer to Gale, but I will mail you this weekend too, I will try to explain how I did it, 5 sec. aperture 20, ISO 500, I used a tripod, I have a 18-200 mm zoom lens, so I started out at 18 mm focused, so I pushed the button half, than zoom fully out, push the button and start zooming in, but make sure that you need half of the time for the lighting of the subject, so about 2,5 seconds zooming and the rest at 18 mm were you started off.
Hope this make sence to you, it is always difficult to explane in a different language sad but you can err borrow it tongue
Wow Astrid, what a shot! I don't want to know about your swing technique, that is yours and only yours. The only thing I can tell you is that the result is wonderfull. I love the lighting
