They don't seem to mind being out there. This is a friendly rural scene, Astrid.
Picturit: This was taken last Sunday, it was a nice sunny day, Texel is known by its sheep and the wool.
Astrid.
there face are so white compared to there wool, except two.Like the Windmill in the back ground
Picturit: The wool is thick and of the 'fat' in the wool that is more yellow, in a few weeks it is shaved off, and than they are real 'white', the windmill makes it Dutch..
Astrid.
Aaaaarrrgghhh - not MORE sheep!
Picturit: I knew it, I knew it.....I hope I did not get you a headache...I am so sorry...I do hope you will get over the shock today.....
Astrid.
Conspiracy...... richard
Picturit:
Astrid.
Astrid.
Nice crop and I like the light here!
Picturit: Thanks Wim, we were last weekend on Texel, we had 2 days of full sunshine....it was just great.
Astrid.
I LOVE it - I see Chad I see Chad
very subtle Astrid ! cannot Wait for tomorrows
Picturit: 10 points for you Jude Iron Maiden, you were the first to see, thanks...yes he is famous....even in Holland......
Astrid.
Wim says 'nice crop' - is that the Dutch collective term for a flock of sheep over there ? !!! :-}
Actually, a crop of sheep would be more appropriate
Picturit: This is fun Jude, the play with words, yes it can be said both ways, this is why I love the English, sometimes I 'get those', which is hard to learn, it is the 'feeling' of words.
Wim meant the crop of the picture, but you already know.... Astrid.
you have a wicked sense of humour which is not in the slightest way hampered by language differences
Picturit: This is the most nicest compliment you can ever give me, my wicked sense of humor is even worse in Dutch....but 'they' know me
Astrid.
that is an interesting colour of sky Astrid - I believe you call that Blue in your country ?
Picturit: ....erm....erm....I had to look for that word in my dictionary
Astrid.
LOL at the chad! At least these are Dutch sheep and not that scratty old thing of Chad's!
And a windmill to remind us of Ginnie!
Picturit: I feel pity for Chad's sheep too, so I found some relatives that would happely pose for me and say Hi to Chad.....Ginnie will love the windmill, it just belongs in this landscape...
Astrid.
Pity that Chad hasn't been along yet. He may just decide to claim this farm and sheep with his name on it.
You have half a holland in this picture. I have challenged Ginnie once to do a full holland. One picture with a windmill, a dike, sheep, tulips and someone on a bicycle - all in one. A 'lelijke eend' or an 'oude vrouwe wagen' (DAF) would be the cherry on such a composition. I am still waiting. Yes, if you wonder - I have taken such a picture years ago - wait for it - on Texel. Unfortunately a slide, so I can't blog it yet. This picture is sharp on detail and homour - love it.
Picturit: This is HUMOR Louis, sometimes I cannot resist to capture pictures of Holland and give the imagination that I walk on wooden shoes, live in a windmill, have a flower garden full of tulips, chickens walking around, sheep, cows, riding a 'haleluja fiets, http://www.fietsing.com/, my son holding his finger in the dike, I heard that story for the first time when I was in the USA, I am looking forward to your picture, I will ask Ginnie to capture a 'full Holland' picture....
Thank you for your kind words...I like it when you have great memories of my country. Astrid. http://www.rvc.nl/historical/haarlem/Hansje_Brinker.htm
Like this one Astrid, the dutch country side, i live in a city so i dont see this a lot!
Picturit: That is too bad Chantal, somtimes it is worth to just get out so once in a while...
Astrid.
"Letterbox" ...eerrr...crop really works with this "schlepp" of sheep, Astrid.
I kinda like that Dutch hillock on the horizon, too.
Picturit: Thanks Ray, I kind of was forced to use this crop, the sky was not that good and too much foreground, this crop-of-sheep was not close by the road and for me, the ditch was to wide to jump...
Astrid.
Interesting intrinsic qualities here, Astrid. Old fashioned windmills are one of the world's delights. Holland is blessed with a few of these.
hartelijke greoten van chad
Picturit:
Windmills never bore me, the same as sheep.... Hartelijke groeten van Astrid.
These sheep look so different to our. Lovely capture Astrid.
Love the little Chad feedbox.
Picturit: Chad just feeded these animals, I think all the sheep in the world look different, these are kept for the wool, they are outside most of the year, to give them a nice thick 'coat'
Astrid.
Beautiful picturesque picture of your country Astrid. Great lighting and crop. I like it!
Picturit: Thank you Richard, the island of Texel is a nice place to be, there I so much space to walk or go by bike, we love it.
Astrid.
Nice crop to give a better display of the sheep.
Picturit: Thank you for your kind words, I had too much sky and forground....
Astrid.
Ha Ha I see you have got your own Flock of sheep Astrid. I see the feeder is called Chad, Ha I wonder why???
Great bit of fun Musketeer
Picturit: I have not the slightest idea, I think some relatives from Chad are living here.....I could not resist, it was too good to be true...
Astrid
This photo shouts 'HOLLAND' to me... great panorama.
Picturit: This is indeed Holland...no question about it, and I had fun making this...
Astrid
They look so peaceful. The windmill in the back is a nice touch
Picturit: That windmill makes it real Dutch, I guess
Astrid.
Aaaaghhhhh ! sheep ... and more sheep. Cha has pushed me so far , now you send me over the edge . :o) :o) JOhn
Picturit: I do hope you did not forget your parachute....going down over the edge, that was NEVER my intention....
Astrid.
What a pleasant agricultural shot of these sheep, and I love the old Dutch windmill in the background. Brian.
Picturit: More Dutch than this is almost not possible.....BTW I don't live in that windmill
Astrid.
I like the two peeking out behind the hay
Picturit: They are on the lookout for Chad......
Astrid.
lol love the CHAD sign lol, lovely shot and crop Astrid
Picturit: Thank you so much for your kind words, Chad had to be in too...
Astrid.
Yup, Ginnie is REALLY liking that windmill...and the sheep (especially the two on the right watching over everyone) and all the banter about Chad. Dare I say that I have had lamb twice now here in Sydney?? It's one of my favorite meats in the world. But I would NOT eat THESE sheep, I promise! Geweldige foto, Astrid!
Picturit: Ontzettend bedankt, my favorite meat is lamb too, these sheep are lucky, they are only for the wool...
Those two are on the look out for Chad...you never know what will happen once he arrives Astrid.
Love the windmill in the background. Where is Texel?
Picturit: Texel is a small island in the north of the Netherlands, it belongs to Holland, I will put a link in so you can see, I live in the middle of the Netherlands, it takes 2 hours to drive to the ferry, the ferry only takes 20 minutes to cross, we love to go there, once we are on that ferry, we have that 'vacation-feeling'
Astrid http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texel
very nice dutch photo you show us here! The panorama look a like is good for me!
Picturit: Thanks Robbie for your kind words, once I have to try a real panorama picture though, I will, if I have some more time to do so.
Astrid.
Could be 100, 200, 1000 years ago. Well maybe there weren't windmills 1000 years ago.
Picturit: Ruth, I did some googling, around the year 1000, there were windmills in Holland in the area where I live, I live below sealevel too and a few miles away, it is 15 feet below sealevel....so we need windmills to get the water out, yes even today...
I am pleased you like this Dutch view... it never bores me either. Astrid. |
