.....are you looking at me.....

I grew up in a culture where cockfights are okay. This is one look I am familiar with. A handsome bloke this one
Picturit: He is so handsome, I am glad he did not see me as a rooster too..that would have been some fight...
Astrid.
A seriously handsome chap, Astrid.
He could well have been the model for the 16th century dandies that Were common to Europe. His comb looks quite intact, which suggests he has not had to work his way to the top via the farmyard pecking order.
Picturit: I only saw 3 other roosters, he was the biggest/tallest...so maybe he already made sure he was in charge.
Astrid.
That's about as up-close-and-personal as I think I'd ever want to get to such a fella, Astrid! Look at his eyes. He is really intent on you and your camera in his face. You gotta love it!
Picturit: This handsome fella was really checking me out when I had the courage to come that close, I took many pictures of him and the big crowd..they were all over me....sometimes even too close to capture...
Thank you for your kind words as ever. Astrid.
Handsome, dandy - what else. If a person has such growths on his/her face it would be in the medical journal amongst other gross cases
A good picture in principle - you have the eyes in focus. If you would push up the ISO to get a higher shutterspeed, you will be able to narrow the aperture some more and get the beak into focus as well. I like the DOF of your camera.
Picturit: THANKS Louis, I was trying to do so, now I know for the next time.....he was a proud dandy....and he was checking me out that I was NOT doing anything wrong.
Picturit: I was wearing my red helmet too.
Astrid.
A great portrait! He has an almost stern look!
Picturit: Yes and I gave him the same look...
Astrid.
He looks a bit red around the gill's Astrid I hope you weren't attacked by him
You did well to get that close and survive mijn vriend Great shot here lady
Picturit: I just gave him my 'look' and that got him scared
Astrid
Did you had to run after this shot?
Or didn't he attacked you? Nice shot, maybe next time a little bit more sharpness would be nice.
Picturit: He kept walking with me....it was fun, like a pet,.....Louis just told me to sharpen the beak too....
I will try next time Astrid.
This is almost scary being so close to this pecking thing, Astrid. Is it on your farm? I like the green background very much. Hartelijke groeten.
Picturit: This was taken on Texel, next to the barn of the picture with the daffodil field, thank you for your kind words.
Pretttige avond verder, geniet van je glaasje wijn. Astrid.
Yeah, I'm looking at you ... and find you very beautiful !!!
Picturit: WOW, now he will be proud the rest of the day....thanks
Astrid.
He looks rather dangerous, ready to attack me, the red colour signalizes fight, defending..., or he looks very critical- ach, these crazy human beings with their cameras... I would like to see the whole beauty of such a humdinger!
Picturit: I will see if I can find him for you.....it is a great and large animal....he was walking with me all the time....
Astrid
A song come to mined your so brave
Picturit: Thanks....I just loked him in the eye too..
Astrid
Wattle lot you've got!
Picturit: yep...........they make alot of noise...
Astrid
coq au vin
cock oh vain hey cocksure, have you noticed lamb is off the menu - run, Hide, we all have our cookpots at the ready ! morning Astrid.
Picturit: We had the most nice barbeque this afternoon.....
Astrid
That look says 'don't mess with me!'. This is an excellent shot Astrid - I like the very shallow DOF with the focus on the eyes.
Ingrid
Picturit: It was so hard to get this one into focus, now Louis has told me how to do it, it was a fun animal....he walked behind me as a pet....but he made sure I was not to close to his hens.....
Astrid
Great capture Astrid. The DOF is amazing. I can assure you that he is definitly looking at you!
Picturit: He gave me the eye, I know he did....it was so fun animal...he walked with me as pet.
Astrid
I think they're beautiful and love to see this one. Thanks.
Picturit: You're welcome, they are indeed so beautiful and big....
Astrid
You "tokking" to me???
Picturit: Ja, daar heb ik aan gedacht, maar dat vertaal je niet zo snel.....
bedankt. Astrid.
Can you say intimidate? I would not like to cross this fella - but wish I could perfect the look!
Excellent photo - great detail and clarity.
Picturit: Thanks Martie, it was just so much fun...he walked wth me as a pet.....thank you for your kind words.
Astrid.
he looks a bit mad
Picturit: He was just checking me out.........
Astrid
Is his name De Niro then? One of yours?
Picturit: No, Mr. Robert was on a farm on Texel...it was a fun animal
Atrid
yes he is and doesn't he look grand
Picturit: Thank you Tim, he is a proud animal..
Astrid.
I don´t belive it,I just lost an staring contest
Picturit: YOU TOO, me too, he won............thanks
Astrid
hi! after a long time visited here again and really enjoyed the last 4-5 pictures.
This one is so CLOSE UP
Picturit: Welcome back, thank you so much for your kind words.
Astrid
Great capture !!!
Quel COQ !!! Un vrai Gaulois !
Picturit: Merci beaucoup, c'est vrais...un grande COQ, he was the king of all.
Astrid
LOL, it looks a little put out.
Picturit: Yes indeed, I think he thought I was the pain in his neck.
Astrid
He looks to be telling you where you stand in the "pecking" order Astrid. All the same it is a good close up of not the most attractive of animals, except on the lunch table of course!
Picturit: I know what you mean, this one would do great on the barbeque.....
Thanks Brian. Astrid.
Great chicken! So much better than all those sheep. Just needs a bit of a sharper beak and it will be perfect.
Picturit: Louis told me how to get a sharper beak, so I will get back to that rooster next week and try another shot at him, with the camera that is.....
Wow ! Great shot ... looks a bit scary so close ;-)
Picturit: Thanks...it was in the beginning when he came running to me I was kind of scared, later he just walked with me like a pet....
Astrid
Ouch! He's got one heck of an "attitude"!
Picturit: He has and he knows...it was a fun animal.
Astrid.
un des plus beau portrait animalier que j'ai vu. félicitation
Picturit: Merci beaucoup pour votre mots aimable....
Thank you so much for your kind words. Astrid
What a spectacular portrait!!!!
Given his dare-devil expression..I'm not sure I would have been brave enough to get so close. Great capture!!!!
".....are you looking at me....."
- I most certainly am! Nice one Astrid, though I almost missed your watermark on this one
Here's looking at you! Fantastic shot, I don't think I would hang around him very long. Excellent details and tones in this image, great job.
i don't like the way he's staring at me ... it's like he knows what we've done with the eggs!
