Hugo Wstinc was the man who wrote the first law book for Utrecht around 1342
also known as the law book of the Dom church.
He was actually more than a monk and
someone who got consulted by many cities and churches to write law.
He was also the canon of the Dom capitol at the time of his law book.
The canon was an official of the Dom church
there were a number of such officials - e.g. deacons.
He is known as a master in law and therefore very famous.
Today Ginnie has a picture of part of the fountain

We are Partners in Crime, Astrid! What can I say! Good ole Hugo would be proud of us, don't you think?!
I LOVE your collage and have such happy memories of this photo hunt from January!
Picturit: He would be very proud, I think we both did him pride with our pictures, thank you for your kind words as always, when I see my pictures of that day, I have happy memories too, inspite of all the rain there was
What a wonderful collage of this beautiful fountain!
Picturit: Thank you Marybeth for your kind words, most appreciated.
Astrid.
Beautiful collage Astrid. Love the middle one because it shows the full view while the others compliment it with the details.
Picturit: I am pleased you like this collage, we had fun taking pictures of it, so much detail.
Astrid.
Good Collage Astrid, thanks for the information
Picturit: You're so welcome, Vintage, pleased you like it.
Astrid.
He is a very patient model. Excellent shots.
Picturit: Michael, we were amazed that he did not move during our photot-shoot
Astrid.
I just come from Ginnie's photo. I love the two ways you shot this fountain ... Great collage !!! As I told her, I love when you show us your both point of views ...
Picturit: Ann, thank you for this nice compliment, yes we are showing the same fountain in our own point of view, both Ginnie and I have our own 'style' and that makes it interesting for the both of us to see afterwords what we did with 'our pictures'
Astrid.
This is a beautiful way to present a statue in photographic form, Astrid. I take my hat off to you and also see where Ginnie's image came from.
Picturit: Chad, your words mean a lot to me, considering these pictures were taken in the beginning in January, our first picture-hunt together, I do have to admit in my modest opinion, that this turned out rather okay.
Astrid.
My favourite is the one on the right - lacks the details of the others, but imho all the stronger for it. Looks very intimate.
Picturit: Thank you Mike for your comment, these pictures were taken in Januari, if I could do them again, I would have been paying attention to different things I have learned since than. Like some of the camera settings, being with an other photographer, read Ginnie, I have learned a lot ever since.
Astrid.
I'm off to look at Ginnie's picture in a moment. This is beautifully done Astrid and with an interesting snippet of history as well
Picturit: Bill, I am pleased you like this collage, there was so much to see and it is historical ground.
Astrid.
I like the subtle colours and the feeling of tranquillity. Good choice for a collage.
Ingrid
Picturit: Thank you Ingrid, I appreciate your words very much, this monk deserved more than one picture.
Astrid.
A fine collage and nice to see the whole statue, which is a fine one. I especially like the one on the right.
Picturit: Thank you Wim for your kind words, I think this statue diserved a few pictures, the right one is my favourite one too, love the intense look while writing.
Astrid
Beautiful presentation Astrid. I like the way you zoomed to the portrait! Thanks for the information.
Picturit: You are so welcome and I am pleased you like the collage.
Astrid.
Very nice ot, maybe you could use a longer shutter.
Picturit: Thank you Jeroen, but what will a longer shutter do?
Please can you let me know?? Astrid.
Beautiful
Picturit: Thank you, I am pleased you like it.
Astrid.
Very nice to see the statue in so many views. I love the one on the right. He certainly looks like a studious young man.
Picturit: He sure does look like a serious studious man, I am pleased you like it,
Astrid.
Great collage Mijn vreind what more can I say you have done yourself proud too.
Picturit: Thank you for your kind words, they mean a lot to me
Astrid.
Simply beautiful! Well done, Astrid.
Picturit: Kunle I am pleased you like it, thank you for your kind words.
Astrid.
Your montage idea is fantastic, Astrid...makes me feel like I am there, stepping around the sculpture and occasionally moving closer to study some detail.
I peeked at Ginnie's also, and really like your different treatments...they complement each other...like friends looking at it, and chatting about the finer points.
Picturit: Ray, this is what Ginnie and I wanted to do, both taking pictures of the same object and we indeed discussed our pictures, I do learn a lot from Ginnie and I give her some advise too about how I do some things, it is fun to have a friend on picture hunt.
Astrid.
interesting series, i like the multi-angle approach.
Picturit: Thank you so much for your kind words, thank you for your visit, I am sorry but the link did not work, so please can you send it again, please.
Astrid.
Great collage with varying sizes. Well done. We have seen Hugo before
Picturit: Yes you do remember, but we just wanted to show again....no harm in doing so I think, this is a different point of view, thank you for your kind words Louis, most appreciated.
Astrid.
Had you not told me this was a man, because of his delicate features, I would have thought it was a statue of a woman!
Picturit: This monk has a delicate face and the statue is nicely made, I am pleased you like it.
Astrid.
Good idea to make a mosaic of this. There is too much detail for just one shot. Could use some noise reduction.
Picturit: Yes I know NOW, but in Januari not, so I have to think of that, thank you for your advise.
Astrid.
Astrid, with a longer shutter you can see the water 'flow'. I like that but, it is not necessary.
Picturit: Thanks Jeroen, now I know what you mean, thanks for your comment, next time I will keep thet in mind,
Astrid.
3 different views of a beautiful statue/waterfall, well done Astrid very well presented
Picturit: Tim, I am pleased that you like it, thank you for your kind words.
Astrid.
We've both put collages up today Astrid and I must say I like yours very much. What a different approach you have made to the fountain from that presented by Ginnie.
Picturit: Brian, that is the fun of being together on a picture hunt, we both capture the same statue and we both came up with something different and both we like it, thank you for your kind words, I am pleased you like it.
Astrid
Lovely picture Astrid - and thank you for the history lesson too!
Picturit: Chris you are so welcome, I am pleased you like it, your words mean a lot to me.
Astrid.
Great collage Astrid.
My favorite of the 3 is the one to the right
Picturit: That is my favourite too, but this monk deserved some more pictures, I am pleased you like it.
Astrid.
Nice shots,Love the history.
Picturit: You are so welcom Mick, glad you like it.
Astrid.
You do these collages so well, Astrid. It is really difficult to get the balance right, and this one is perfect. Love that Ginnie has a different view of the fountain up at the same time. (:o)
Picturit: Roz, your words mean a lot to me, most appreciated, I do put a lot of work into these collages and doing the same time a simular post with Ginnie is great fun for the both of us, we talk about it, but that you already know, next week we will have again, one building 2 views.
Astrid.
cool statues!
Picturit: Thank you, I am pleased you like it.
Astrid.
A lovely collage
Picturit: Thank you Michelle, this statue diserved more than one picture.
Astrid
Astrid, the statue and the mountain stood out very nicely against the peach background.
Picturit: Thank you for your kind words Helen.
Astrid.
Very well done, you're now ready to publish a book on Utrecht, I'll be your first customer !
Picturit: You are too kind Zeb, but if I ever intend to publish, I will let you know.
