....Men at work at the ferry....

I took the ferry "home" which is another 30 minutes by bike.....

This is fun after a 42 km (26 miles) bikeride on Tuesday the 24th of July. (and yes that is my bike)

Tu es courageuse de faire cette distance à  vélo.
Picturit: Thank you, Martine. I love riding my bike, this one is a "classic" I already have it for 34 years....we spend many hours together.
Astrid.
Glad you brought the bike along
Picturit: grin... Indeed Larry, it is a long walk for a "bike-ride"...
Astrid
Looks like a fun trip, Astrid.
Picturit: It was a fun trip indeed. I love going on places also were cars cannot come.
Astrid.
Nice photo of your bike and your ferry!
Picturit: Thank you, Elizabeth. I am glad that now I can take my big camera with me. I bought a nice streamlined backpack, the same that skateboarders use...
Astrid.
This is so YOU, Astrid. I love that you can go off and take these bike rides!!!
Picturit: Indeed, Ginnie. These things make me very happy. The ferry was kind of an unexpected choice. I estimated the time and thought it was better time-wise to take the ferry.
Astrid.

I hope you felt good after your exertions Astrid
Picturit: I felt great, Chris. This is so fun to ride my bike and go places where cars cannot come. Wednesday I did 36 miles, I will post about that next week.

You must be one very fit lady, Astid
Picturit: I am, Lisl. Wednesday I did 58 km, 36 miles in less than 3 hours. I took one bridge going (Gorinchem) and another bridge (Zaltbommel) coming home again.. I will post about it next week. Thank you, Lisl.

That's a nice way of travelling.
Picturit: It is, Anne and it was great to have that rest and beautiful view over the river.

Oh, for a moment I wondered how you managed to carry the ferry to your home, and how much you had to pay for it. I like your name here Astrid.
Picturit: That would have quite the challenge and we don't have a bathtub to keep it floating..... grin....
it took only 85 cents for the ride....

Those men are not working, they are just walking.
Picturit: grin.... I know, but the man going into the pilot house is the pilot of the boat, without him I would still be on the other side of the river, Louis.... smile
Astrid.
You are so fortunate to live in a country that encourages bike riding as a method of transportation, Astrid. We have bike paths here but the car is still king of the roads.
Picturit: I have a city bike that I use all the times, even if it means it takes an hour to do errands and come home... it does not pollute, keeps me fit and I am faster through the city than cars......
Astrid.
That is a serious looking bike Astrid.
Picturit: It is, Bill and I take good care of it and "touch and your dead"... grin...
If I know ahead of time that I have to park it, I takes enough locks with me that they will not even start to try to take it..... wink
Astrid.
I'd like to ride the ferry but 26 miles on a bike, the last time I done that was in the 1990's. !
Picturit: You will like all the ferries we have, Brian, some are only for bikes...
I know that I am very lucky to be able to ride the bike like this.

It may be an illusions but it looks like you have a drop handlebar on the left but a rise on the right? I like the idea of the ferry to cut out part of a ride. My cycling has been more limited this week; last Sunday's was washed out and we gave up over around 20km because of the heavy rain and high wind and today we only did 40km because it was getting far too hot! Wednesday was better and then we did 71km with another 23km in the evening.
Picturit: I just wrote you an e-mail explaining what I have.
You should be very happy and proud of what you do and the distances you travel by bike !!!!
Astrid.
Thank goodness you were on the "Astrid!" smile
Picturit: Brought me "home" safe :d...

Wonderful catch...sharp..gives flavor of the moment..What a sunny day!
Picturit: It has been like this for a long time, we need rain badly.. but until then I take advantage of the weather...
Astrid.
I haven't gone on a bike journey for a very long time. Maybe I should.
What a cute clean looking ferry.
Picturit: we are lucky that our country is "bike friendly' and it takes you to places where cars cannot come... This ferry is one that is very busy all the time.
Astrid.
Your bike seems to have rather odd set of handlebars! Custom design?
Picturit: This is a normal racebike (34 years old) and in my other life I entered several 1/4 triathlons and the extra handle bar is a design for more aerodynamica. It is very comfortable. https://www.powerplustools.nl/fiets-gereedschap/triathlon-stuur-opzetstuur-tijdritstuur-voor-fiets.html
Astrid.
i am so proud of you being able to ride that far on your bike Astrid....petersmile
Picturit: It is what I love to do. I have a standerd route if I just want to be out for an hour, but then I have several options here to make it a longer route. Next week I show my 36.6 miles (59 km) route.
Astrid.
