photoblog image ....Healthy Friday....

....Healthy Friday....

Yesterday was my last day of work at a Pharmaceutical company where I worked with a Medical Detection Machine like  THIS.

I guesstimated that in the 7 years I worked there I saw about 65 million pills “fly by”…..

In my next life I like to stay away from pills as far as possible, so many pills cannot be healthy.

These pills shown are rejects and not usable anymore.

Que de médicaments. C'est dangereux d'en abuser.
Picturit: Indeed and I all saw them flying by. Too much of anything will kill you, Martine wink
Astrid.
I like that Astrid pill.
Picturit: A placebo wink... grin....
Astrid.
YAY for you!
So excited for your "new life"!
How were the rejects discarded, do you know?
Picturit: Thank you, Elizabeth. We have a very tight system of security and all pills are collected in big containers and will go to a company that is specialized in destroying pharmaceutical waste. As for all personal information on the pouches that also is collected.
Astrid.
I have to agree about the pills. I hope you enjoy your 'new life' as much as I do mine, Astrid. smile
Picturit: I think I will enjoy it too, Frank. There are so many things I want to do that I will do nothing for a while grin.
Astrid.
This is the first day of the rest of OUR lives together, Astrid, and I can't believe it's finally here. The fact that it's KING'S DAY seems appropriate! HA!

We will do everything possible to keep ourselves away from pills. Laughter is the best medicine, so let's keep laughing!!!
Picturit: What a day to celebrate, Ginnie and yes "a day not laughed is a day not lived" we will make it happen!!

Hopefully you can lead a pill-free existence for the rest of your days now Astrid. Nice image though..
Picturit: I intend to stay away from pills as far as possible. (if possible) Thank you, Chris, I might get fired on the spot for we are not allowed to take any pictures inside the building.......
Astrid.
Felicitations pour cette fin de travail..retraite?..
Moins j'en prends de ces pilules mieux je vais ....
Sourires !
Bonne journée
Picturit: Thank you so much, Claudine. I think it will take a while before I get used to it.

Is this a selection of your Retirement Gift, Astrid? smile
Picturit: HA, that will be the day, Ray... I think I inhaled enough pill dust over the last years that I never will come "clean" in a drug test HA HA HA....

I am so pleased that you do not have to stare at pills any more Astrid. I hope that you have a great day today.
Picturit: Thank you, Chad. I am catching up on the replies and I can tell you that I had a great day last Thursday. When I went home I knew it was the right thing to do. No regrets.
Astrid.
May you have a long and pill free retirement Lady P
Picturit: Thank you very much, Bill. I think that is a great plan!!!

The pills look undamaged, but you might know why they were rejected. I can well understand why you longed so much for retirement and I am sure you will enjoy every day from today on!
Picturit: Some have been on the floor or they are broken or wrong in the pouch and taken out or the pouch tore in our machines.... all kind of reasons to have whole bunch in the bin.
I am glad that I now can breath fresh air and have the sun in my face.
Thank you kindly, Philine.
Astrid.

i think now you can breathe a sigh of relief and perhaps there are already ideas bubbling in your head, Astrid. enjoy the King's Day.
Picturit: Thank you, Ayush. Yes, you know me well enough to always find something to do. We had a nice and quiet Kingsday, just enjoying the day.

What a fitting way to say "goodbye to all that", Astrid. You were brave to take such a picture, if you risk dismissal!!
Picturit: It is, isn't it. I was always blown away by the quantity of medication we handled a day. There are camera's all over the place, however there is always a "blind spot"...

I think it is a wonderful machine, but still; if I had to sort pills with it every day, I would look forward to pension with a big ache.

The value of this machine is clear to me, since wifey and I had to sort pill doses for my father during his last year of life. And one is always left with the nagging thought, that maybe you have done something wrong.

Picturit: Louis, this machine is a wonderful machine and when I started 7 years ago we had 3, then we grew to 16. It was a challenge each day to deliver a good product, to make sure that each patient gets the right medication. I tried to get as much as possible through my machine. I still have the record on that...and I have to say that the monthly payment was very good and also the vacations days were plenty. I had problems to get my alarm clock on a normal time smile I will make sure that I will stay in bed untill it is civilized to get up HA... thank you kindly, Louis. Can I tell a secret, Ginnie loves our Queen and we watched from minute one. We thought it was great to watch, however I know that this is more important "voor de wederhelft" than for you. I will not forget my first day of retirement until Amalia will be Queen grin...
Astrid.
Welcome to the land of the retired Astrid, you've no doubt heard it before but today is the first day of the rest of your life. To me for the first couple of weeks it seemed like being on holiday and then by weeks three and four it really comes home that you don't have to go to workd anymore, you can do just what you like, when you like and there's nobody to keep an eye on you, apart from your spouse of course smile
Picturit: Thank you so much for your dear words, Brian. Yes I heard this a lot and it is so true. I closed a chapter of the book and we both start a new chapter and we both don't how that will end. What we do know is when we wake up we will say "thank you" and at the end of the day we will say "thank you" again. I will enjoy this life at no end and do what I want to do. No more paid work for me, if I can prevent that from happening, never say never, but it is not what I want.
Already I had to deal with work interfering in my hobby's grin.....
See you and Maureen soon looking forward to that.

My goodness! I love the picture. It's frightening to think how many drugs must be in our waterways through being excreted and thrown away. What a world we live in and have created. May you always stay healthy without any pills, Astrid smile
Picturit: I know, Penny and I sincerely hope that people will bring unused medication back to the pharmacy and they take care of it. I mad sure I never threw medication in the waste basket, but in the proper disposal-bins. It is mindblowing what is happening and not enough time to try to understand. I will try the dickens to stay off medication.
Thank you, Penny.

Congratulations on your escape. I'm sure you will soon wonder how you found the time to go to work. It's good to know that the rejects are safely destroyed (well, one hopes...!) Alas, I'm some regular medication; one I especially appreciate, though, is called "cake"! It keeps me sane smile
Picturit: Thank you, ALan. I am sure it will take will before I realise what hit me. Knowing me there is always something to do or maybe it is nice to do nothing for a while. I hope too that everything what comes from the company as waste, that it is destroyed properly, we pay a lot for that. I think that is a great medicine in combination of cycling with good friends and have laughter. A day not laughed is a day not lived.
Thank you, Alan and see you soon!!
Astrid.
> (I can't imagine how many pills went through those machines in one day.)
Good for you Astrid... Happy Retirement!!!
Picturit: That was 7 years, Jacqueline.... my machine did about 50.000 in 8 hours.
Thank you very much, it has not sunk in yet.
Astrid.
I hear that Astrid pill is potent stuff...
Picturit: Just a placebo, Larry. Some things can be cured by just a positive look at the world and try to laugh at things.
Astrid.
The PERFECT photo to announce your new phase in life! I'm so thrilled for you!!
Picturit: Thank you so much, Robin. With the risk to be fired, taking pictures at work, I needed a picture like this....grin...
It was a good job and now it is time for something else.
Astrid.
The picture is beautiful, but it reminded me sadly that I too must appeal to you.
Picturit: Claudio I am aware that many many people are relying on medication and trust me, I always made sure that I tried to make a difference and make sure that they got a good product. It is just when I was there for so long I realised that some of the patients do get too much medication and by sensible food or lifestyle they van "cure" a lot.
Thank you, Claudio.

Congratulations on your retirement smile

I can recommend it ;-)
Picturit: Thank you, Cherry. It has not sunk in yet, it might take a while.
Astrid.
My heartiest congratulations, Astrid. What a lovely summer you will have, not having to punch the card! I hope to do it sometime too but not quite yet.
Picturit: Thank you so much, Mary. It was because my company was bought up and "they did not have work for me".... so they bought me out. I hope that you will be able to stop working soon too.
Astrid.
