....Boat Friday with M.C.Escher....

M.C.Escher.

Senglea, Malta.

Woodcut 1935 (460mm x 310 mm)(18.1102 x 12.2047 inches)

I did not even dare to have my name in this one, it is not mine, and yes I know it is not straight.......

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor Senglea, Malta.

Almost Escher's point of view.

Picture 'loaned' from a travelguide on the internet.

Jolie reproduction du paysage avec en plus le navire et la tour d'un château.
Picturit: A lot of people will recognise the place, thank you Martine.

Love the art of M. C. Escher, Astrid.
Picturit: Me too, it is so divers and intriguing.
Astrid
you didn't have to sign it Astrid... we can recognize your talent...
good Boat Friday....petersmile
Picturit: Escher is so intriguing to me and he is the master.
Astrid.
i am glad you put in both the versions, Astrid.
Picturit: Escher was in Malta in 1935 and he made pencil sketches of some locations which he later used for the block-print. Some of the places he visited are easy to recognize. You are welcome, Ayush.
Astrid.
And to think we saw what he saw with our own eyes! That makes his art all that much more special, doesn't it.
Picturit: Absolutely, Ginnie. That is why I had to capture this block print, we stood on that same corner.....
Astrid
Oh isn't that wonderful! I love that you included the photograph to show his "almost" point of view!
Picturit: Don't you love it and last year, Ginnie and I stood on that same point.....
Astrid.

He is a fascinating artist. We visited only the great Mondria(a)n exhibition in the Gemeentemuseum. Next time I should visit the Escher Museum. Den Haag is a wonderful city quite different from A'dam.
Picturit: There is a walking tour around the Palaces of Den Haag, Ginnie and I intend to do that one day. You will love the museum and yes these are two totally different cities...
On your blog....close needs of course to be ' cloth'....
I know you liked the Mondrian exhibition, have a great weekend.

Well done finding a photograph that matches so well Lady P
Picturit: Now that I think of it, we were there last year, I could have looked for one of mine.....

So the great artist visited Malta, just like Astrid and Ginnie. The ship gives a clue to its age.
Picturit: He visited Malta and he traveled many time to Italy too. The steamer might be re-cycled by now...

I like how Escher produces ripples on the water,
Picturit: He did so well on many levels. I really like this one too.
Astrid.
Nice treatment and presentation!
Picturit: Thank you, Tom
Astrid.
You and Ginnie were here too. Escher was such an important artist to this generation as he awakened imaginations.
Picturit: Indeed and I totally forgot to look for one of the images in my archive..... a missed chance here...
Astrid.
