Love this pic, with the gulls walking like Jesus on the water, Astrid.
Picturit: Isn't that amazing... I always love to se them 'skate' the ice.
Chilleeeee, Astrid.
Picturit: Yesssss but oh so good. I wished it was colder and we can skate the canals again....
I like to show you a YouTube and now you know why I want ice... this was in 2012 and I did 25 km through the polder by skates.... back-pack and just get some food and warm drinks along the route when you skate through a village.... Enjoy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzjPo_Us9fk
This canal is only 10 minutes by car from my home....
Good eye, Astrid! And it translates beautifully into this image!
Picturit: Thank you, Elizabeth. I love the lights that are with the bridges and the locks...
Something tells me the light isn't a sign of warmth.
Picturit: No not at all... this is a light NOT to go under the bridge...

Whoua, qu'il doit faire froid pour que la rivière soit gelée.
Picturit: I would love it when it gets colder than this and we can skate this canal...
How fun to see our city looking like this again, even if only for a day or two! Gotta love that thin layer of ice...and your signature!
Picturit: Thank you very much, Ginnie. I always love to see the birds walking the thin ice.... Maybe soon we can skate.

Ohhhh.. ice on the canals; get those skates ready. Oh, and a life vest as the ice is far too thin. This is almost a monochrome scene and the red light provides a welcome colour.
Picturit: If only, Alan, if only. My skates are ready to get and I sharpened them after my last use, two years ago..... This picture was taken early morning and that red light intrigued me. Thank you.
You picked the right moment Lady P. Looks like you had a bit more snow than I did!
Picturit: This was on the 31st of December around 7.30AM.... I love these morning with almost nobody on the roads.....

Very good Astrid. A photograph after my own heart, just perfect.
Picturit: Thank you, Mike. I love these early mornings, the air is crisp, almost nobody awake... 7.30 AM Saturday morning the 31st of December...

marcher sur l'eau !
Picturit: Ha just like Jesus... I know..they are the daredevils...
The ice isn't thick enough for skating but the birds can't read so a sign is useless. Nice shot.
Picturit: We have a saying.... 'never go over by a one night's ice' meaning: never act too haste-full... I do love those 'skating' birds though....
Your'e so clever Astrid, I wouldn't even have noticed that.
Picturit: Thank you, it was the light that caught my eye.
This week I will take my camera and tripod to work, on the way I pass a bridge that have MANY lights... I want to do a night shot with these lights.
Interest on a grey cold day
Picturit: Indeed. There is always something that 'makes' colour...
Lovely shot and great title!
Picturit: Thank you, Tom, one of my favorite walks in town. Always different.
this isn't the red-light district, is it?
Picturit: Wrong city...from here, turn right, make another right and then about one hour....(with the car)

Lovely photo smile But do we have to worry about the red light...
Picturit: Thank you. No I don't think so, this is just the light to show to nobody is allowed to go under the bridge, the harbourmaster has to 'control' the 'traffic'... at the end is a big lock to go in the Merwede river. (to Rotterdam to the right, to Germany to the left...
Nice winter photo with that pop of red.
Wonderful! The light makes this! And of course your name placement! Perfect for the ice!
Picturit: Thank you, Robin. Snow and ice add to the atmosphere in a picture. I love it...
it's a god start to have a thin layer of ice on the canal... maybe skate soon Astrid...
i love your red light....petersmile

Looks so chilly!
Picturit: It was cold, but not 'cold-cold'....
Thank you for visiting my blog smile
it looks bitter cold. no wonder not many people are seen out and about, except for the feathered characters.
