It is a gobsmacking sight, Astrid!
Picturit: Thank you, Ray. Something I had not seen in real life smile
Astrid.
it is so cool to see boats sitting on the sand Astrid... superb photo....petersmile
Picturit: A new world to me. Thank you kindly, Peter.
Astrid.
This is so beautiful, Astrid! Wonderful shot!
I'm not accustomed to seeing this either - and find it "unreal", as you say!
Picturit: Don't you love it. I know maybe 'unreal' is not the proper word, but you know what I mean wink
Thank you and have a good Sunday.
Astrid.
Jolie ambiance avec ce brouillard.
Picturit: It gave the perfect 'ambiance' for this place. Thank you Martine.

a wonderful, atmospheric image! I have been at St. Michaels's Mount Bay, but I don't remeber these walls.
Picturit: Thank you Philine. It might be possibel that you have been there with high tide... these walls are the entrance to the harbour..
We were there at the very last minute of low tide and had to run to walk back without wet feet...
Astrid.
We Americans, too, find this most unreal, so I'm totally with you in loving this kind of shot. We were very lucky to have our time in Cornwall to see "this" more than once!
Picturit: It is fascinating to me and I totally enjoy the view. I am glad that we were able to see it at a view locations.
Astrid.
Une ambiance que j'aime beaucoup
Belle prise de vue !
Picturit: Thank you so much. For me the first time to witness low tide like that.
Have a great Sunday.

Until you spoke to me about it I never realised there is no low tide in Hollandshire Astrid. They I realised why!

Newt time I'll take you to the Bristol Channel, we have the second highest tidal range in the world here
Picturit: We have such a closed in water system with locks and our harbours and canals are always filled with water. This to me is such a 'wonder' to see. The fog of course added to the feel of it. We would love to go to the Bristol Channel and see the boats 'grounded'..

I was so glad you got there at last, Astrid, for or no, though I think you found the fog enhanced the scene?
Picturit: I have seen twice now the low tide, one time with fog and the other day was a very sunny day at Padstow. Both very fascinating and YES I do love fog.. it enhanced the scene. ( smile new word, I hope to remember and you is properly)
Have a great Sunday.
Astrid.
It never occurred to me that there was anything unusual about this. Things we take for granted
Picturit: Don't you love these things, I thought I was looking at the 10th wonder of the world and for you, 'business as usual'.....
This is a thing we never will see in the Netherlands. We have such a closed in water system with locks and our harbours and canals are always filled with water.
Astrid.
I'm glad you went here Astrid, it's a pretty good spot to visit so long as you get the tide times right. Is this really fog or, as I believe, a meeting of the Penzance cigarette appreciation society.
Picturit: This was such a wonderful view. We were there in time to walk to the Mount, we had to run back though to be back in time before we got wet feet.... we were the last to be back..... and yes Ginnie got wet feet, I have boots....we had fun doing so smile
Astrid.
Just spotted your name Astrid. It's Astrid isn't it?
Picturit: Yes indeed, that is my boat... I had to fly back with Chadair though... could not wait for the boat floating again grin...
Astrid.
Could you see St. Michaels in the fog?
Picturit: 15 minutes and barely, pictures will follow... LUCKY LUCKY us, after that, NO way, just fog and no castle to be seen.
Astrid.

This is a super shot. Likey.
Picturit: Thank you kindly, Louis, what a place, never saw that in my life, so different from our water-system.
Astrid.
It is such an eerie feeling, isn't it? And even more so by capturing it with the fog...wonderful! And I really love the little Astrid boat!
Picturit: Don't you just love things like this. We have such a different water-system in the Netherlands, we always have water in our harbours and canals. The fog did add to the eerie feeling... loved it until the last second we had to run back before getting locked in by the water, Ginnie got wet feet and we were the last ones over HA... you know us, until the last second we like to be in such a place...
Astrid.
I agree with Bill, I guess the way the sea is controlled in Hollandland there aren't any tides.
Picturit: ...and there would not be as much Hollandland.... we are below sea-level, so the dikes keeps the water OUT and IN....

The mist adds a certain mystery to it all. I'm suddenly thinking of Daphne du Maurier.
Picturit: We were at Fowey and saw the house where she lived, high tide though... I do see why you thought of her though.
Astrid.
There's a metaphor here, but I am not sure I want to pursue it...
Picturit: I think the best thing is wait and see what happens.... one day these boats may float again...... but they still have a long way to go, Larry.
Astrid.

Lovely photo, Astrid, and quite unusual sight!
Picturit: Thank you so much, Petra. Yes this was quite the sight and the fog made it even more special.
Astrid.
i like the atmosphere in this shot, Astrid, even though it makes me feel a bit cold.
Picturit: I know what you mean. The fog did make it a little bit colder, but we were dressed for the occasion. Thank you Ayush.
