.....'Fire'....

View on the 'Three Cities, Malta.

At noon and 4PM one canon is fired as a salute. (link)

We did hear the firing and see the smoke while we were 'on the other side'....

A fabulous view, I like the way you have lined up the canons in the foreground leading to the wider view smile
Picturit: Thank you, Cherry. Have you ever been on Malta, I think you would love it...

Magnifique ! J'aime beaucoup l'îlot au milieu de la mer. Pourquoi tirent-ils du canon ?

Thank you, Martine. It is a tribute to their rich history (and being British)
Astrid.
Quite a contrast.
Picturit: The top picture was taken in the morning and the other one at 16.00 later that day.... the light is completely different.
Astrid.
What a lovely sight on the city Astrid! I quite like the symbolic image of the canon.
Picturit: From what I can see in the video, it is quite the ceremony. And of course tourists love it.

This is a fine sight to see on a grey day such as today Astrid
Picturit: Thank you, Chris. We have fond memories of Malta, also weather wise...
Maybe 'summer' will come back one day.....
Astrid.
I LOVE seeing both sides of this "story," MLMA. It's obviously very important to the Maltese since they have the cannon show twice a day!
Picturit: It is amazing that volunteers keep it 'living' and a wonderful ceremony to watch, I assume...
I thought it was fun to 'wait' for the shot...

Waht a glorious view. I especially like the huddle of the miidle "city". Incredible to think that the cannon were their main defence in the days of sailing ships.
Picturit: As a captain you are an idiot to sail into the harbour, knowing that these canons have a grand overview of the harbour....
We spend some time to take in the view.. such a wonderful place.
Astrid.
This is my favourite Maltese snapshot so far Astrid. Not only do I appreciate the composition, with that wonderful row of canons, but it gives a fine perspective of the place.
Picturit: Thank you, Chad. I will post some more of 'these' shots and give more of an overview. This was a great place to be.
Astrid.
The Battery, best place on Malta.
Picturit: I agree with you, Michael. We saw some great places but this view with the canons is incredible.
Astrid.
Love the city island. I like that you showed where you were.
Picturit: Thank you, Mary. As I told to Chad, I will post some more 'overviews' and give an impression of the country.
Astrid.
I've read about this, nice to see pictures from where it takes place.
Picturit: No need to add that you have to be early to have a front row seat...we knew we could not make the ferry back in time so we waited for the shot on the the other end..
Astrid.
I hope they didn't have cannonballs in them grin
Picturit: I hope not, that would have been some unexpected excitement grin...

I like the contrast between the luxurious yachts on one side and the industrial cranes on the other, and the little island haven in between.
Picturit: This is a view on 'the Three Cities'.. they have shipyards and some posh harbours too... it was great to see the contrast. Thank you, Pauline.

That is a serious yacht to the left. Funny that it doesn't bear your name. Quite a view from here.
Picturit: I was incognito this time wink..
This is one of the best views in Malta. To have a front row of the show, you had to be very early too..
Astrid.
i can see the neat arrangement of the cannons but i assume that they would have been spread (fanned) out at some point of time, Astrid. they are no longer in use but we live in noisier times.
Perfect composition!!
I really love this point of view, Astrid!
