photoblog image .....All Aboard.....

.....All Aboard.....

The driver stopped to get on board, took over the remote control, got his car safely on board, unpacked, while the ship sailed towards Germany.

All in 15 minutes.  Gorinchem last Friday.

Picturit: ....I did not say that wink

Nice series of actions, Astrid. Not sure it could be done here!
Picturit: This is their house/home and parking place.
Astrid.
A very nice action sequence Astrid!
FABULOUS, MLMA. This is a story to tell and you've done it brilliantly! Do you think this is HIS barge?
You would be a bit worried if it was your car!

That's fascintaing to see. I imagine that the car driver must be an official of shipping company. I can't imagine that a "normal" driver would be allowed to do this; some of them in the UK really should not be allowed out of the house smile
Picturit: This is there house/home and this is where they park their car...
Families live all their lives on a boat like this. There are special schools for 'children from sailors', during the week they stay at school like a boarding school (even the 6 year olds) and in the weekend they try to go to the ship if the ship is withing reach for them.....

Now that is efficient Astrid
Picturit: It is there house/home and there parking place.
Astrid.
Thank you for showing this Astrid, I have often looked at the cars on the canals in Europe and wondered how easy it was to put them in place. Now I see.
Picturit: I have watched this now for a few times and I am still impressed with how they do it. Peter thought it was easier to rent a car, but I told him, this is their house.... and they need to do their groceries and other shopping... this is their car.. The whole family lives on board.
Astrid.
I don't think that would ever happen here - unless he was the owner, of course.
Picturit: This is their house and this is where they 'park' their car.....
Astrid.
I'm not sure I'd want to see our car swaying about like that! Good series of shots Astrid, it tells the whole story.

Here is a very equipped boat !! In Holland it is important to be for the river life
Have a nice day
Wouldn't just be easier to rent a car when he is ashore away from home Astrid...
he does seem to have it under control though....petersmile
Picturit: These people live on the boat, this is there house... so they have their car in 'their' parking place... You don't rent a car each time you do the groceries... when these people go to, let say Germany, and need groceries or other things to buy they need a car....
Astrid.
I guess he'd done it before!

Interesting series in one, that is instructional to show how it is done. Better than Youtube, as one don't have to listen to all the patter.
Picturit: Thank you Louis. I have watched this now a few times and it is fascinating.
Astrid.
Clearly he's done this before! Wonderful montage to illustrate just what went on!
That sounds like a fascinating thing to watch and I like the way you have captured it smile
