....In rest.....

The water-mill of Singraven, built in 1448, has three wheels, each of which has or had a specific function: grinding grain/corn, sawing timber and oil presses. (and is the only sawmill in Netherlands powered by water)

It's a wonderful thing - lovely photo with the reflections in the water as well!
Picturit: It is one of the finest we have and the location is just fabulous, we had a great time there.

The green algae give it a photographic patina, Astrid
I'll never forget that place on such a beautiful day. It was fabulous. Look at that old wood. But I never expected that the wheels turned THAT FAST!

The power of water is a wonderful thing Astrid, I love your image here
Lovely to see a working watermill Lady P ....Perhaps we should go back to this sort of green power
I wondered if this mill at grave sin was used to used to produce sugar from cane Astrid.
What an ingenious place with three mills in one.
I like the way the sun is catching it bringing out the green Astrid. Lovely composition

I suuppose you don't have the head of water for many watermills, nor get a reasonable flow. I don't recall seeing a three in one before.
Picturit: This is in the east of Holland with many many small rivers and this part is above sea level AND Germany has higher hills so the water comes flowing into our streams with much force and that does the trick. With a lock system they make sure there is enough water to run through the wheels.
Astrid.
Oh gosh...love that old wood! Wabi-sabi!
Picturit: Thank you, I would not mind seeing this in full action in Summer one day...
Astrid.
What a wonderful find, I would love to see this. To see three wheels in one mill is most unusual.
I especially like the green natural patina on the wheel too. Good shot to share.
And still going, eh?
Picturit: Yes in summer every Saturday they run. In this way they make sure it keeps working and getting money. It is Dutch Heritage.
Astrid.
The waterwheel turns at quite a lick.

Jolie trouvaille !

Wow, that is really old Astrid, I can't imagine that that wood is original. It might have been replaced/repaired many times.
Picturit: Some parts were renewed, I think over time they were all replaced. The mill dates from 1448...

Good evening
A peaceful place - I like the wheel of old mills - dynamic HDR brings into the matter of wood and vegetation!
Have beautiful festivals of end of the year, we find ourselves in 2016
Gracious--it's over 500 years old... it should be restored...
