It's enough to make anyone gag (and lose their own tongue!), MLMA. I still can't believe we saw this. I sure am glad they didn't smell! This is one of my favorite images of yours from this excursion. smile
Picturit: grin.... things like this fascinate me so much, I loved to be around and try to get some close-ups...
To be honest, being that close, I realised that the cod fish is HUGE...
The heads were about 25 cm (at least) 10 inches.
The fish can grow to 3 feet.
Thank you for your kinds words.
Astrid
On the advice of Ginnie, I just look at the details of this job! To know Norway well and I am a vegetarian, I confess to have never eaten so many varieties of fish elsewhere! In all its forms and preparations! A very significant photograph!!
Picturit: Thank you Mathilde for your visit, we loved Norway and the fish we ate was fabulous.
Astrid.
Lovely colour and deail Astrid!!

I wonder what they do with these heads Astrid: make soup out of them??
Picturit: Yes, they ship these heads to Nigeria and the people there make a very nutritious soup out of it.

Picturit: Eyes all over the place... no it did not smell to me, but then I love fish..

Oh, Astrid, only one look -too sad for me...- but a fascinating picture!
Picturit: I know Philine, but then realise, these heads are NOT wasted, they are send to Nigeria and they are made into a very healthy and nutritious soup.
I could not resist taking this picture, I love details like this.....yes I know I am weird.....
I do hope you had a great day today in Holland.
Hartelijke groeten.
Astrid.
I like the close up detail Astrid. Reminds me of another SC shot by Pep @ http://peppujolricart.shutterchance.com/photoblog/Fishmonger_/
The lines on the bottom two fish look like beach shells.
Picturit: Thank you for the link and your visit!
Astrid.
Here's looking at you, Kid.

Oh..gross!! But - it does make for an extraordinary image!!!
Taking tongues out of fish sounds about as pointless as peeling grapes grin

I love the picture though Lady P
Picturit: The tongues are considered a delicacy in Norway, I think I prefer a Bacon Buttie... smile

I read Ginnie's post and couldnt believe what I read! how strange, and yet fascinating. Cool photo...smile
Urghhh this this gross Astrid, it could almost, but not quite put me off fish for life.
That's really gross, but the colours are cool
Really nice! A friend of mine is helping me with the comments for SC my English i not good enough! (not so clear that hers is--note of the writer). Right now she is in Norway (but I have not seen these things--writer again)
Wow, for this subject, it is a good thing you had your fish-eye lens handy :^)
Picturit: tongue you are right....... I knew you would notice.

Awful..... but reality !
Nice shot !
Picturit: This was a great experience, being in Norway and seeing the stokvis en de vissenkoppen, het stonk niet and the thought of shipping these fish-heads out to Africa for extra nutrition, nothing gets wasted.
Astrid.
