I hope so too....looks beautiful.
Picturit: Thanks Ada, this was taken just before a heavy rain, the sky was dark and the white smoke looked beautiful, the birds were a treat for me.

"God willing and the creek don't rise," is what we say, Astrid. As long as the world needs natural lactic acid, derivatives, gluconates, lactides and polylactides, I'm sure the smoke will keep coming out. How far away is this factory from where YOU work? That's what I want to know. Do you see it every day? The birds sure seem happy to see it...and so am I. smile

This is the same factory, remember when you were at my house, behind the houses on the left are meadows and at the horizon is this factory, yes I do see it every day when I go to my work, it is a beautiful sight in the dark, with all the lights on, they work 24 hours a day.
It is situated on the other side of the city from where I work.

..no doubt it will.. smile those birds superimposed on the smoke works really well.. smile nice work..
Picturit: Thank you Rian, while I was taking pictures, the birds just came by which was an extra treat in this picture.
Astrid.
I love the birds in the view and that they're going in the opposite direction of the smoke creates great tension.
Picturit: You are very observant, I did not even see that, I was so focussed on getting them in the foreground of the white steam, the 'smoke' is steam, everything done in this factory is under very very strick regulations.

beautiful shot astrid!

don't enjoy the smoke too much tho, cos the polar ice caps are melting wink
Picturit: I can assure you that the 'smoke' is steam....I just told Mary, everything done in this factory is under strick regulations, in Holland they are kind of paranoia when is comes to that, which is good of course.
Astrid.
so say all of us. It is looking bleak for the UK in 2009. It is our own fault for letting a bunch of idiots run the country.

Great picture Astrid, have a good week!
Picturit: Bill, it is so strange, that relatives of those idiots who run YOUR country, run ours too, I heard they are all over the world, would it be in the genes....so sadly....we...the man on the working-floor have to do it and those idiots play Santa Claus with OUR money...and everybody knows that stockmarket is going up and down...okay it is down now, WHY did these complete fools panic.....for they did not do their job good....
It will be a bleak year in The Netherlands too.

It's probably steam, not smoke Astrid - we have a similar factory in our local town. I'm sure they wouldn't allow huge plumes of smoke in these environmentally aware days. It makes a great picture though - the birds are a brilliant addition. There is definitely beauty even in industry for those with the eye to see it.
Ingrid
Picturit: You are so right, it is steam, they would never allowe it to be smoke.
I see this factory everyday when I go to my work, at night time/dark, it is a brilliant sight with all the lights, we need these kind od industry and I quess you and I both have eyes for their beauty.
Thank you so much Ingrid as always.

Well I see you are climbing the tower mijn vriendtongue
This is an awesome sight Astrid, even though the smoke is important the birds are wonderful in the foregroundgrin
Hope you had a good day at work Musketeersmile
Picturit: Sorry for the late reply, I am almost .....ALMOST back in the life of the living....they did not know what hit them when I climbed the tower, I never get bored looking at this factory, in the dark it is full of lights, the steams comes out 24 hours a day...
No work for me the coming 2 days I know for sure, I might try the 31st..off January first...work Jan. 2nd...off to days, so that will get me back in the routine, hope you are fine too, Musketeer. smile

Oh I like this. It's sort of surreal.
Picturit: You are right here, I came home and there was about a heavy rain to come and the sun was out, that gives the white steam.
Thanks Jessie for visiting my blog.
Astrid.
A wonderful industrial capture with these birds Astrid. Let's be optimistic and say it will keep coming out!
Picturit: Richard, I will be the first to be optimistic about a lot of things, if things are suppose to happen, they will happen...for the best or the worst...
I will go for the best.
Thanks Richard for your kind comments as always.
Due to the flu, I am late with replies, slowly I am catching up though.
Astrid.
This is a wonderful capture Astrid and it works so well in B&W.
Picturit: Thank you so much Brian for your always kind comments,
the original one is almost B&W too, the foreground is an apple-orchard, this part of Holland is known for the orchards.
Astrid.
Excellent shot Astrid. Have a great Christmas week.
Picturit: Thank you so much Bernie, sad the flu got me....however I think I have had the worst, maybe in a few days back to work again.smile

Composition is excellent and so is the conversion. That smoke looks like steam - fortunately.
Picturit: Thanks Louis and yes you are so right, it is steam, they will never allowe so much 'smoke' get out of a factory in the Netherlands, they are so stricked with that, which is good.

Het duurde even maar dan heb je ook wat. Mooie foto weer. Vooral de natuur vs. de industrie wat je zo veel ziet in NL. Ook B&w mooie keuze.
Ga ik binnenkort ook eens proberen smile

Vogels per toeval erop gezet of express ff gewacht?
Astrid.
This is a very accomplished picture Astrid. The combination of the white smoke & the tumbling black birds really works!
Picturit: Thank you Chris for your always kind words, I never get bored looking at this factory, everytime it is different, I once will try to get at the back of ot at night and take pictures from that angle.

Here's hoping smile
Picturit: Thanks Ellie, I am an optimist smile so I know ti will keep 'steaming'...even in 2009.
Astrid.
I love this Astrid. Great quality photograph. The birds realy make it. They seem to almost create writing.
Picturit: Chad, your words do mean a lot to me, this was just one shot out of a million, I came home and I always have to look direction this factory, don't ask me why, maybe because it is never the same, the steam does makes the diffence, while taking this picture, the birds flew out of the orchard, so I took several pictures, to pick out later the 'best'one.

I think that this is a case of beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I'm afraid I don't see the same beauty as others here, more a blot of the landscape!
Picturit: Alan I know what you mean, however, 'we' cannot do without places like this, half of the town of Gorinchem has a job there and the smoke is steam.
Astrid.
A special image with great back light. The toning is very good and moody.
Picturit: The heavy rain cloud and the spooky sun gave this atmosphere, the birds were a treat.
Thank you Paul as always.
