.....Take off from the Empire State Building.....

The Empire State Building is one of the most famous buildings in Manhatten,

The view was impressive, for me it is; the higher the better, so much to see,

in the link is the history of this beautiful building and a great panorama view,

maybe in my third life I might be able to post panorama views,

for now I am glad with these.

now this is one awesome shot...i wonder how you managed this...
Picturit: I admit I had to use my elbows a little and I had to make sure I was not bothered by the fence around it.....and I had to make sure that I did not scare the thing (that was the hardest gringrin) we were early so there were a few 'empty' spots were I had the chance to take some pics.
I was surprised though by the number of pigeons up there...
I did take some pics of the view too wink

This is a superb NY shot, Astrid.

Look at that damn pigeon...totally nonchalant, as though taking in the sun on the edge of a 100floor precipice is what normal "people" do
Picturit: Thank you so much Ray, I could not resist...it was a beautiful animal, he had that 'air'........I dare you.....I can just go over the edge....and fly off......well I left my wings at home.....grin....
Astrid
That is WONDERFUL Astrid: I like the way he's looking at you & thinking - another tourist!
Picturit: He was not only thinking that, he even told me so, just before taking off.....I wished I could fly with him............
Thank you for your kind words.

GREAT work Astrid! I'm not sure if he was watching you or waiting for you to serve breakfast. Anyway, wonderful shot.
Picturit: Thanks Martie, others did bring breakfast for the pigeons, the security was NOT amused.
Astrid.
Oh he was watching you alright ...pigeons have so much all round vision. Great colours on his plumage Astrid.

Love your positioning of Astrid. Why don't you have another version ''Astrid wos here' ha! richard
Picturit: He gave me the eye and it was amazing how he was used being with people.

A birdseye view Astridtonguetongue
Only you would have seen this and captured it so well.
Great composition and focus on the pigeon mijn vriend the clarity is superb.smile
I can see you are on top of the world, up there may be a bit high for megrin
Well done Musketeer.
Picturit: Can you imagine, he even 'winked' at me.....I am on top of this world and I hope to stay this way, tomorrow is a big day for me, I am going to a place where there are a lot of companies looking for employees, so I make sure I am there too, see if there is a job for me, Friday I will have the conversation with the lady I am doing the test for...so I am hoping I know where to start looking.
I will keep you informed.
Have a nice evening....
Astrid.
First time I have seen one of these at the Empire. nice one.
Picturit: Thanks, there were many pigeons...the fly sky high....
Astrid.
Fabulous shot, Astrid! Now, for your next assignment, ask the pigeon to please pose on the tip-top of the Chrysler Building spire for you! (The building to the right of pigeon's shoulder.) And be sure to have Ginnie there to take a photo of YOU taking the picture!
Picturit: *sigh* If you only knew how much we both would like that, if ever we are able to do that, we will be the first to let you know...wink
For me this was already a dream come true being in NYC, so who knows, maybe some other dreams might come true too.
Thank you so much for your dear words and visiting my blog.

Astrid.
Superb picture Astrid. I love his expression.
Picturit: Thank you so much, he was not shy, neither am I grin

Fine guily looking pigeon, and I see my favourite, the Chrysler Buildong in the background.
Picturit: Chrysler building is a fabulous design, I agree, it was so funny to see the pigeon, that was the last I would expect at the 100th floor...

Different from the normal views from the top of this building! I love that you have got the Chrysler Building in - that is my absolute favourite. That pigeon looks so relaxed in your company - love it smile
Ingrid
Picturit: Ingrid I was relaxed in the pigeons company too tongue, I was surprised myself, I am glad that both Mike and you like the Chrysler Building...at least one topic less to argue about tonguetongue
Thanks Ingrid as always.

I see Mike has written the same as me - I hope we're not going to turn into one of those old couples who finish eachother's sentences off!
Ingrid
Picturit: LOL...this is so funny....at least I do hope you grow old 'being' a couple....emphasis on being, how many survive?????
so if you are doomed to finishes each other sentences, so be it....

LOL! Good to see one of the locals enjoying the week as well!
Picturit: Yep you are right about that...
Astrid.
The last time we were in NY the viewing platform at the Empire State was closed due to the danger of falling ice!
Picturit: sad that is too bad, you missed a lot of fun

very nice views indeed.. and the pigeons are always there.. must waiting for handouts.. grin
Picturit: Yes they did, a lady brought some food for them, they fought it....
Astrid.
That's a bird's eye view!
Picturit: Sometimes it would be nice to have wings and fly off and have a heck of a time.

I guess the pigeon wanted a fee to be photographed Astrid?.... lol

lovely image. mal
Picturit: Yes he did, he made all kind of funny noises when I left without tipping him, I just pretending not to hear any of it....gringrin
Thank you Mal, as always.
Astrid.
Ah! Fantastic perspective, a real bird's eye view. Oh, and I love how the PanAm building is now the Astrid building, did you come into some money Madam A? *grin*
Picturit: You mean, did I hit the Jackpot, as a matter of fact I did, but it was no money wink, actually I am looking for a job right now.
But in time I will succeed.
I think my name in neon would look good, don't you think....gringrin

De besste wensen mijn vriend.
Picturit: Thank you so much, love the way you say it in Dutch, it means the world to me, hope you have a great day tomorrow,
best wishes to you too, my dear friend.
Astrid.
This is one of my favourite photographs of your Astrid. It is just great. Excellent in quality and composition. I see you gave yourself a challenge to blur your name.
Picturit: Thank you so much for your very kind words, it is fun to work on these things, gets my mind off things, it might be less if I find myself a job, but maybe I will post twice week than.
6 days to go.....am I counting.....

That bird is checking you out. If you are going to jump - do you have wings or ...

Or maybe it saw the Astrid 2008 building there and recognised the owner smile

Great picture - love the place myself - a bit windy.
Picturit: LOL, thanks Louis, we were so lucky with the weather the fist few days, later in the week it was windy...
I love NYC, so much to see and do.
Astrid.
I think he is saying "what is that women doing up here, this is my domain?" Good shot Astrid.
Picturit: I was on his property, I knew, but I kindly asked him and he promissed NOT to fly away.

Picturit: You will love it all over agian, this city is alive, I have so many things I like to see, maybe one time I will be there again too.
Astrid.

WOW! NYC and nature all in one image! I thought it was an impossibility!!!
Picturit: I was surprised myself, a pigeon on the 100st floor...it was not windy so maybe it was more easy to 'land' there, some people were feeing them.
Astrid.
Hey, Hey, You, You, Get off of my cloud. Nice one.
Picturit: tonguetongue Thanks Janet, you are right, I was glad though that the weather was nice to us.
Thanks for stopping by.
Astrid.
I don't know what to write ... it's a wonderful photo (but it has one huge problem: it wasn't the photographer).

5 stars and at least 2 extra ... (on a 5 grade scale)
Picturit: Thank you so much for this BIG compliment, maybe on time you will the photographer, I am sure, I love your pictures very much.
You made me smile though, thanks for doing that.

Superb picture Astrid, and an unusual one too. Love it.

Tell me, did you look directly downwards?
Picturit: Thank you for your kind words, if there had been a possibility I would have look directly down, I love heights, but there was a very heavy fence around it, no way that somebody ever could try if he/she could fly....wink
Astrid.
Hehe, I managed to make a typo that ended up quite funny smile It should of course be "I wasn't..." smile
Picturit: tonguetongue I got that one, thank you......
AStrid.
"Awww man, another photographer!! Can't get no peace & quiet in NYC. I knew I shoulda stayed in Philly"

That's what the bird was thinking.

I see you've stamped your authority on the American real estate market too smile
Picturit: Damn Tourist.....LOL....it was fun to do, well of all towns to fly to Philly is a good choice too smile
With the prices so low, real etstate is easily bought...gringrin
Thank you as always for your kind words.

I love how the bird could be any one of us looking back to make sure you're "still there!" Did I tell you that when we were there for a week last year, we stayed near the Chrysler Building off the right shoulder of the bird. It really is a magnificent city!
Picturit: I knew you were in NYC, but I did not know where, we stayed at 10th 49th street near the Circle line, it was in walking distance of Times Square.
I am still there, he asked me to join him for a flight, I forgot my wings, I would have loved to fly over that City and feel free.
Astrid
