I run, without watching the time,
I run, in my favourite outfit,
I run, with the wind through my hair,
I run, just me and my thoughts,
I run, in my favourite polder,
I run, where ever I want,
I run, when ever I want,
I run, because I am a running woman….
These words are so simple, how many women would love to run
but are not able to run, how many women have cancer,
how many women need radiotherapy treatments and
how much money do we need to keep the research going to find treatments for this disease.
Last Sunday I ran the 12 km of the 'Runner's World Zandvoort Circuit Run', this was a run, part on an auto racing track,
the beach and the town of Zandvoort, 10.000 participated and there was € 33.000.- ( $51.580 £ 26.000) raised for Kika,
a special organisation that does research in child cancer.
Most runs in Holland have the opportunity to raise money for the cancer research.
For me it is 'easy' to participate in such a run,
but I feel humble, compared by the effort of Bernie, who is in training,
with her two sisters, for the Race of Life in Hampstead,
London on the 8th June, Bernie was diagnosed with cancer one year ago and after treatment she is now in remission.
I am glad that all over the world, runs are organized so that we can raise money to continue the research into finding a cure for this terrible disease.
With this little story I like to draw attention to her fund raising and wish her the best of luck with her training.

BTW my husband took the large and the left picture, I was some where between all those enthusiastic runners....
it was a pity that is rained during the race, many supporters were along the route.
My time........1.21.45....for me that's okay, I got my t-shirt and a medal.
