This image makes me think of the brilliant, but confusing, art of M.C. Escher...I think he comes from the same part of the world as you, Astrid.
Picturit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M._C._Escher
Escher has been living in a small town 5 km from where I lived, (Laren en I in Hilversum) I have seen most of his work, I have a few books of him and 2 drawings on one of my walls, so that says how much I love his work, I am pleased that I remind you of him, just by a simple picture of me, for he is THE master of confusion........and a great and brilliant graphic artist.

Aha! What Ray doesn't know, Astrid, is that you are a great fan of Escher! So, NO WONDER!

I think one would want to be a student of law just to attend classes in this modern building...and then look out the windows onto this fabulous OLD structure. HA! You know I'm not confused! smile

I LOVE your watermark placement, again! How fun to find it every day.smile
Picturit: I can never confuse you smile, I think this is great to study in this part of the city, nice and quiet....Thank you for your kind words....Louis had something nice to say about my watermark though grin.

O, ik kan het niet laten. Een spreuk floept in mijn hoofd: Gekken en dwazen schrijven hunne namen op deuren en glazen.
Op een manier vindt ik dat humouristisch bij deze foto.

Great confusing picture and the confusion is great.
This building was new and I had to enter the grounds in which this was build the reflection is past of the old building...
Thank you Louis, for you ever nice and kind words, most appreciated.

intriguing picture Astrid - I like it
Picturit: I am pleased you like it Paul, thanks.
Astrid.
The traditional reflected in the modern, and an autographed staircase!!
Picturit: wink yes, I could not resist, again, ....the modern and the traditional, I think in every city we can find places like this, BUT I think they are intriguing and nice to capture, thanks Bill.
Astrid.
Very nice reflection. Well spotted!
Picturit: Thanks Frank, I just happen to enter a gate and there it was...not to miss...
Astrid.
Nicely captured reflection, Astrid. I like your watermark too.
Picturit: Thank you for your kind words and I am pleased you like this one.
Astrid.
Traditional and modern confrontation! Who won? Great capture Astrid.
Picturit: For me the traditional won, BUT I have to say, this modern building was not seen from the street, I had to enter a big door to get to this place....
Thank you for your kind words.

Picturit: LOL Jude Iron maiden, yes I think the other colors are, red and white....wink and orange.....but that is too easy, wait untill you see our Dutch soccer team try to play a desecent game of soccer during the european championships, the strange ones in orange are living in some parts of the Netherlands.....
Thank you for your kind words and I am please you like it.

I love the contrasts in this one. The stair lines with the round glass wall.
Same with the direct vision and the reflection ... Well done !!! Nice textures too !!!
Picturit: Ann, this was a nice building, it was well desinged I think, the glass outside around the building was amzazing, I am pleased you like it.

A crazy photograph caused by an interesting relection. I see that your graffiti is once again in evidence, Astrid. The architecture looks interesting on both sides of this composition. I must visit Holland but only if you will be my guide!
Picturit: I will be honoured to be your guide, we will have a blast, please let me know ahead of time so I can take some time off...I am pleased you like it and I promiss I will keep my spray paint at home....sad

I am all confused. is the brick inside or is that all a reflection? A polarizer would help manage the reflections. Looks appropriately prison-esque for a law school with the iron gridwork smile
Picturit: The brick is outside, the two buildings are very lose by and it was cloudy.
I have to go to the shop in Rotterdam to see if I can buy some lenses.
LOL at you last words, they can get used to the iron in front of the windows...
Astrid.
I'm truly confused, Astrid. It took me a while to realise that it is a beautiful reflection. lol
Picturit: smile, I knew that this was going to happen, that is the fun of these kind of pictures.

This certainly is complicated - I've been sat here a while trying to figure it out! Good contrast of architectural styles. Well seen.
Ingrid
Picturit: Those two buildings were so close by, the brick buildings are very old, and they addes this new part on the opesite of it.
Thanks you for your kind words,
Astrid.
I like the mix of old & new here. also the reflection is great and puzzling. Well done!
Picturit: Thanks Wim, we both like the puzzling wink I am pleased you like it, have a great weekend,
Astrid.
This is remarkably like Bill's picture today Astrid. You haven't eloped with him, have you?
Picturit: Chris, I saw it, I was already on his blog, it is amazing, no I did not elope with him, I had to look that one up, before I even say a yes or a no....I hope you like it anyway,
Astrid.
Nice photo, great reflection!
Picturit: Robbie, thank you for your kind words, have a great weekend.
Astrid.
Exact, Astrid. When I have watched the photo first that has come to me to the mind has been the title that you have put!

Astrid.

Beautiful capature of al lthe diifferent elemsnts and lines in this. Th woarm texture of the brick contrasts well with the steel of the stairways. I love trying to work out the reflections of the building seen in the upper part of the image.
