.....sea...wind...my heaven...

It just stopped raining,

no footprints yet after the rain,

mine were the first,

strange,

moments like this,

I love the thought of being

'alone in the world'

 . . . . . sometimes. . . . . .

For many years I spent the 16 weekends of summer each year with my wife and kids at a beach-side recreation spot on the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia. It was a short path, just like this, from our caravan/tent to the beach.
I loved to be the first person to break the flimsy night-crust of sand on that path, as I went for my morning jog.
That feeling...of being alone, on the sand with just the gentle rhythm of the shore break in its ankle-deep water...is just about as good as it gets.

I identify strongly with this image, Astrid.
Picturit: Ray, your words mean a lot to me, YOU understand, being out there with only the sound of the sea, to be able to see for miles and miles, nothing there but our own thoughts...yes, it is about as good as it gets, I sometimes think I am the only one to experience that, now I know others have the same.....we are the lucky ones.
I am glad I gave that wonderful memory to you with this picture, it is a good start of the Easter weekend, have a geat time with your family.
Astrid.

Everything about this picture, Astrid, is what "heaven" is all about for me. You ARE "alone in the world" in a place like this, where nothing distracts from what is important to you. But there's nothing "lonely" about it, because here you can be restored and connect again to all that is important to you, including your friends and family.

The morning light across this path is heaven. Morning has broken, and that TOO is resurrection. Have a wonderful Easter weekend, mijn vriend.
Picturit: True words here, Ginnie, thank you, this is the place for me to be restored and I never feel lonely when I am on the beach, I love to be the only one out...
You too have a great Easter weekend with your family who came to visit.
Astrid.
Hope it's not too cold when you run into the seawink
Picturit: Never.....grin I might be out within the second though..
Have a great Easter weekend,
Astrid.
This is wonderful Astrid. A great feeling of serenity here. I understand and appreciate much the terms "alone in the world"!
Picturit: Richard, I ma glad you understand the feeling what goes by this picture,
have a great Easter weekend,
Astrid.

There's nothing quite like the idea of "first footing".. to be the first person to make one's (temporary) mark in the world! I love the angle in this and those lovely muted coloyrs again.
Picturit: The feeling of being the first time on the beach is a great feeling, thank you for your kind words.
Have a great Easter weekend,
Astrid

I wonder where this is? We have a great coastline for photographers...
Picturit: This is one 'gate' south of Paal 17, the one road that goes along Ecomare.
I can walk/run from the house throught the woods and dunes to this place and than via Paal 17 I go home again.
Have a great Easter weekend,
Astrid

This is beautiful Astrid. I can just imagine how wonderful it must feel to come up the path and have this come into view - such a feeling of expansive space. The light and colours are wonderful. Have a good Easter.
Ingrid
Picturit: It is majestic, this is facing the west, most winds come from the west, so it is just great to be on top of that path and sometimes it is hard to breath...I feel so much alive than.
Thank you for your kind words.
Have a great Easter weekend,
Astrid

A path towards the sea ... A real invitation for me who loves swimming and feels like a fish in the water as we say in French. Well spotted !!!

I can completely agree with your poetic words which match your wonderful, well composed panorama-pic!

I have to agree with Ray, This could be a shot from Australia. The early morning really is a wonderful time of day and you have captured this scene so beautifully.
Picturit: Thank you Aussie, this is the most beautifull time of the day, thank you for your kind words.
Have a great Easter weekend,
Astrid

Picturit: Thank you Robbie for your kind words, I am pleased you like it.
Have a great Easter weekend,
Astrid
I love this feeling though prefer the woods where I walk where I am the only person. We also find a need to be with people sometimes. It's is wonderful when we can enjoy both.

This is a typical scene of my Island home. It's funny how this could be here as well as Texel.
Picturit: I think there will be scenes like this all over the world ans Mary, I am lucky, before I come to the dunes I have to go through a wood...
and I love to talk to people, but I like to be alone too sometimes.
Have a great Easter weekend,
Astrid

With a world like this, alone is good sometimes. The solitude is beautiful. Such nice light.
Picturit: Thank you Ruth, sometimes we don't need anybody, just watch and enjoy all alone, thank you for your kind words.
Have a great Easter weekend,
Astrid

The grass, the old footsteps, smooth sand - such great variations in texture. You have succeeded in bringing the 'alone' feeling.

But then ... the little guy on my shoulder asks if she is alone, why would she build a path way over the dune smile
Picturit: Thank you for your kind words......and yes Louis you can tell that little guy on your shoulder, I was there all by myself with my camera.....and now you are wondering why I have build that path way over the dunes.....I thought you knew....it was made for me, for they know I do trespass so once in a while and that is forbidden in the dunes, Texel is known for the great numbers of birds who put their nests in the dunes, I respect nature and the envirement so I hold on to the rules, I am a guest on this island and I walk this path to the beach.
Hope you have a great Easter weekend with you family,
Astrid.
Lovely picture Astrid. If you were alone in the world - YOU WOULD HAVE NO ONE TO TALK TO!
Picturit: Thanks Chris, that's why I added 'sometimes' with it....have a great Easter weekend,
Astrid.
