One of my favourite places to go on my bike is to "De Biesbosch"

This "lady" was looking around and made sure everything was okay.......

Cette vache est bien nourrie...
Picturit: Yes, she is Martine. She is more for meat than milk... and walking "in the wild"... rnAstrid.
That is one powerful looking animal, Astrid...It has a nice view.
Happy Sinterklaas, Astrid!

This gal certainly looks like she's large and in charge! Great shot!

No doubt SHE is!
Picturit: She stood there for a long time, Robin. After I came "too" close, she moved to the rest of her friends and they all walked out of sight.... -- Astrid.--

Looks like she's bred for meat Astrid. She's a BIG gal..
Picturit: She is, this kind hardly gives milk. Once a year you can buy meat from cows that walk around in this area. They keep track on what to keep and what can go.... -- Astrid--
This isn't what most cows look like here, Astrid, so I'm guessing no one argues with her! Lucky you to get her best side. smile
Picturit: This is a "dik bil" cow (fat ass) it is caused by a gen. They are there for the meat and not the milk. I had never seen them there yet. It was great to be that close to her. -- Astrid --

Crikey! I thought that was a bull at first; she's huge! Just think of the steaks you'll get from her smile
Picturit: The meat is very special. They are kept for the meat not the milk, Alan. -- Astrid--
-- Astrid--

She looks an old beast Astrid. Do you see her often?
Picturit: This one is a special "brand" and only kept for the meat, not for the milk. This was the first time I saw the herd walking there, but then they are re-doing the area. -- Astrid--

Picturit: Ik kom graag in de Biesbosch het is een uurtje op de racefiets van ons huis. Ik had deze dikbil-koeien daar nog nooit gezien. Er lopen ook paarden rond. rnNog een prettige dag.rnAstrid.
She seems fully in charge of the situation! Including the clouds ;-)

Poor cow - a bit oversized I think, but this is a phenomeon we see on our fields, too.
