....SHHHH.... don't knock on the front door......

On my walks I would pass this soccor-bal seize wasps nest, not to mention that I walked tiptoed while I kept my eyes on the nest......The white dots are wasps. Seen in Connecticut.

Very wise to be wary as you walked by.
Picturit: I noticed a few 'flying objects' quite close to me and I did not want to end up as 'breakfast'....
Astrid.
knocking on the front door would hurt a lot Astrid....petersmile

would you please make this bigger so that i could read thee comments....re-petersmile
Picturit: I will use a bigger font for you next time, Peter.
About the wasps, I am not always that kind of an 'investigator' what would happen if.... grin
Astrid.
i see you did not disturb them, even your signature is trying to blend in with the leaves, Astrid!grin
Picturit: Yes grin... you never can be too careful, Ayush... wink
Astrid.
I do love the architecture of these hives... even if the occupants are a bit testy! Lovely photo, Astrid!
Picturit: That architecture is so fascinating and BTW I found out yesterday that these nests were the reason why somebody thought up to make paper from wood. These wasps 'eat' wood and spit that out and make the nest... 'paper thin'...

Best to treat the locals with respect, Astrid.
Picturit: Those are wise words, Ray smile

a wonderful observation!
Picturit: Thank you, Philine. The things I find wink
Astrid.
Enough wasps to feed an army, I bet?! I'm glad you steered clear of it while taking this photo of it.
Picturit: Indeed, Ginnie, or at least enough to sink a ship... I kind of saw the picture me running and thousands of these flying object chasing me and I had to jump the river and stay down HA....

I would tip toe too Astrid. When they're angry, well they're angry!
Picturit: Wise words here, Chris. I was smart enough to not even let them know I would be back the other day....

Sensible to keep clear and observant, Astrid, but I am pleased you paused to get this picture
Picturit: Thank you, Lisl. These things fascinate me to no end, I came back a few times and this was the only time I saw wasps at the entrance. Too bad it was too far and too dark to have a closer look at the 'door'.
I told Elizabeth: I found out yesterday that these nests were the reason why somebody thought up to make paper from wood. These wasps 'eat' wood and spit that out and make the nest... 'paper thin'...

It’s a beauty Astrid. We have had two in our garage before now. Not much fun when they are at home with us.
Picturit: I know, Chad. These are wonderful 'houses' however not in our space or garages. They need to be outside..
Astrid.
Bien vu.
Picturit: It was hard to miss, it was huge.
Astrid.
I do not like wasps........sad
Picturit: I try to keep my distance.
Astrid.

One sees them in the comics - this picture is a first sight of the real thing for me.
Picturit: I have seen them before but never this big.... I keep my distance, foe I have seen those comics too grin...
Astrid.
You definitely did not want to get near this, although to be honest they are amazing structures.
Picturit: I would not mind to cut open an abandoned one and see how it is built.
Astrid.
Paper wasps. I would get these every year in my shed until I was able to buy fake, paper ones at the dollar store. Because they are territorial as soon as they see another nest, they leave.
Picturit: Something learned again, I will tell Chad, he had some of the nests in his garage. I wonder if he can buy some online....
Astrid.
Tread carefully near the wasps...
Picturit: And don't even blink your eyes or sneeze....
Astrid.
Wow! That is some nest!
Picturit: Indeed so, Tom. I was not ready to find out how many wasps it could hold....
Astrid.
